Getting from Jaipur International Airport to the city

The prepaid counter is the answer

• The prepaid taxi booth sits outside the arrivals hall and quotes a fixed fare, paid before you get in.
• Fares start around 500 rupees and run to about 700 for the walled city.
• No haggling and no surge. In a city where the auto trade will not use a meter for an airport run, that is worth the difference.

The app cabs

• Ola and Uber both operate, at roughly 350 to 500 rupees to the old town in normal conditions, and 250 to 300 to nearer suburbs such as Mansarovar off peak.
• During festivals those figures double or triple. Jaipur's calendar is full of them, and Diwali and the literature festival both wreck the pricing.
• On a normal weekday the app is cheaper; on a festival night the prepaid counter is.

The bus, and why to skip it

• JCTSL low floor buses and RSRTC services run past the airport, connecting to Sindhi Camp and the walled city, from about 05:00 to 21:30, with fares from 5 to about 20 rupees.
• They do not come to the terminal. The stop is out on the main road, reported as roughly half an hour's walk with light luggage.
• For 5 rupees against 500 that is a real saving, but it is a half hour walk in Rajasthani heat with a suitcase, and the buses have almost no luggage space.
• Take it only if you are travelling light and not in a hurry.

The metro

• The Jaipur Metro does not reach the airport.
• The Pink line runs Mansarovar to Chandpole, and Mansarovar is 6 to 7 km short of the terminal.
• An Orange line extension with underground access into the airport is under construction, targeted at 2028. Until then, no rail option exists.
