Getting from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport to the city

The Pushpak

• TGSRTC, the Telangana state road transport corporation, runs the airport bus under the name Pushpak.
• It runs around the clock. Hyderabad takes a great many flights in the small hours and the bus is built for them.
• Frequency is every 30 to 60 minutes on most routes, and about every 15 minutes towards Gachibowli.
• There is no rail link of any kind to this airport. The Hyderabad metro does not reach Shamshabad, and no suburban train does either.

The four route groups

• AL, to the east and north east: Pahadi Shareef, Balapur, Mandamallamma, LB Nagar, Nagole, Uppal, Tarnaka, Sangeeth, Jubilee Bus Station.
• AM, through the centre: Shamshabad, Aramgarh, Lakdikapool, the Secretariat, Paradise, Sangeeth, Secunderabad.
• AC, to the north: Shamshabad, Aramgarh, NMDC, Care Hospital, Panjagutta, Paryatak Bhavan, Begumpet, Jubilee Bus Station.
• AJ, to the west: Gachibowli, Botanical Garden, Kothaguda, Hi-Tech City, Cyber Towers, Forum Mall, JNTU, Nizampet, Miyapur.
• AJ is the one for the IT corridor, which is where a large share of business arrivals are going, and it is also the most frequent.

The fares, and the night cut

• On 2 August 2025 TGSRTC cut the fares on flights arriving late, applying a reduced tariff between 22:00 and 06:00.
• Jubilee Bus Station: 450 rupees down to 400.
• JNTU Miyapur and Lingampally: 450 down to 400.
• Mehdipatnam and LB Nagar: 350 down to 300.
• Aramghar and Balapur: 250 down to 200.
• Shamshabad and Pahadishareef: 200 down to 100, the largest cut.
• Outside those hours the higher figures apply. Reckon on 100 to 450 rupees depending on distance and time.

What this means in practice

• A 2 a.m. landing at Hyderabad is a normal thing, not an emergency. The bus will be there.
• The saving is real but small next to a taxi, so the reason to take the Pushpak at night is that it runs at all, and it does.
