Ajaccio (AJA): buy the shuttle ticket before you board, or you are not getting on

Since 28 January no tickets are sold on board the airport shuttle, and buying before boarding is mandatory for journeys from the airport. Non-residents pay eight euro.

  • No tickets are sold on board the shuttle. CAPAMOVE states this outright.
  • For a journey starting at the airport, buying the ticket before boarding is mandatory.
  • Non-residents pay 8 euro per journey. The fare changed on Wednesday 28 January to distinguish visitors from residents.
  • Buy through the CAPAMOVE app, or by SMS: text MUVI8 to 93020.
  • Do that before you walk out to the stop, not while the bus is waiting.
  • Accredited residents of the Pays Ajaccien (residents, employees and school pupils) have the journey included in their subscription.
  • CAPAMOVE calls the airport shuttle line 11 of the urban network. Some guides call it line 8. Read the destination and check with CAPAMOVE.
  • The shuttle runs between the airport and the city centre, provided by the CAPA and the EPCI de Corse.
  • Taxis are also available at the arrivals terminal, which CAPAMOVE names as the direct alternative.
  • Download the CAPAMOVE app before you fly if you plan to use the bus. There is no fallback at the stop.

The rule that catches people

  • Tickets are not sold on board. CAPAMOVE, the Ajaccio transport authority, says so directly: "Aucune vente n'est effectuee a bord des bus."
  • For journeys leaving the airport, buying the ticket before boarding is obligatory.
  • So download the app or learn the SMS code before you fly. Standing at the stop with cash is not a plan.

  • The change took effect on Wednesday 28 January, explicitly to separate visitor and resident use.
  • Accreditation covers residents, employees and school pupils of the Pays Ajaccien.

How to buy

  • Through the CAPAMOVE app, available on the App Store and Google Play.
  • Or by SMS: text MUVI8 to 93020.

The line number

  • CAPAMOVE describes the airport shuttle as line 11 of the urban transport network.
  • A number of guides call it line 8. The transport authority is the better source, and in any case the destination on the front of the bus is what to read.

The alternative

  • Taxis are available at the arrivals terminal, which CAPAMOVE names as the direct, individual option.
  • The airport's own shuttle page credits the CAPA and the EPCI de Corse with the services, and links out for the detail rather than publishing times.
