Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to central Paris
One ticket covers the airport, the Ticket Paris Region to Aeroports at EUR 14.00, and it is a rail ticket only. The RER B takes about 34 minutes to Gare du Nord. The Roissybus is a separate purchase.
- The airport ticket is EUR 14.00, or EUR 7.00 at the reduced fare, and has been since 1 January 2026.
- An ordinary EUR 2.55 metro ticket will not get you there. Paris replaced its zone system in 2025 but kept the airports outside the flat fare.
- It buys the RER B, which runs from Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 2 to Gare du Nord in about 34 minutes and on to Chatelet and Denfert-Rochereau.
- It is not valid on the Roissybus, nor on any Ile-de-France bus, tram, Noctilien night bus or the cable car. Rail only.
- Changes are allowed for two hours from the first validation as long as you do not leave the network, but you cannot double back on the same line.
- You cannot hold both ticket types on one Navigo Easy. If your card already has a Metro-Train-RER ticket on it, the airport ticket will not load.
- A Navigo Jour day pass is EUR 12.30 and covers all zones, which is worth comparing if you are travelling on the day you land.
- One ticket now covers both airports. It replaced the old separate Orly and CDG tickets, and works on metro line 14 and OrlyVal at Orly.
What you are buying
- The Ticket Paris Region to Aeroports costs EUR 14.00, full fare, and EUR 7.00 at the reduced fare. Those prices apply from 1 January 2026.
- It replaced two older tickets, one for Orly and one for CDG, which is why older advice quotes different prices for each airport.
- At Charles de Gaulle it buys the RER B, the suburban express that runs into the centre of Paris.
- At Orly it buys metro line 14 and OrlyVal, which is the same ticket doing a different job.
The journey
- About 34 minutes from Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 2 to Gare du Nord on IDFM's own timetable, with the fastest trips at 30.
- Gare du Nord is the first stop in Paris proper, and the line continues to Chatelet-Les Halles, Saint-Michel-Notre-Dame and Denfert-Rochereau.
- Two stations serve the airport. Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 2 sits under Terminal 2, and CDG 1 is at Terminal 3 and Roissypole, reached from Terminal 1 by the free CDGVAL shuttle train.
What the ticket will not do
- It is not valid on the Roissybus, the direct coach to Opera. That is a separate fare.
- It is not valid on any bus at all in Ile-de-France, including Noctilien night buses, Tzen and Fileo, nor on trams, nor on the cable car.
- It is not valid on the Aerobus coaches to Beauvais, which are a different airport and a different company.
- So if your plan involves a bus at either end, you are buying two tickets, and the Bus-Tram ticket is EUR 2.05.
Changes and validity
- Two hours of changes from first validation, metro to metro, RER to RER, or metro to RER, so long as you stay inside the barriers.
- Return trips and doubling back on the same line are not allowed on one ticket.
- Travel must be by metro, RER or train in zones 1 to 5.
The card trap
- The ticket loads onto a Navigo Easy pass or a phone, bought through the Ile-de-France Mobilites app.
- A Navigo Easy that already holds a Metro-Train-RER ticket cannot take an airport ticket. IDFM says so directly. If you bought a book of ordinary tickets on arrival, you will need a second card or your phone.
- Buy the Navigo Easy first, then load tickets onto it, rather than the other way round.
Is the day pass better
- Navigo Jour is EUR 12.30 for a full day, all zones, and covers buses and trams as well as rail.
- On the day you land it is often the better buy: cheaper than the EUR 14.00 airport single, and it does not stop at the RER barrier.
- On the day you leave it usually is not, unless you are also travelling around the city first.
