Getting from Southampton Airport to the city

The train

• Southampton Airport Parkway station is about 450 metres from the terminal. In the published bus data it appears twice, at 0.45 and 0.49 km.
• It is on the South Western main line: London Waterloo to Southampton Central, Bournemouth and Weymouth.
• This is the single most useful fact about SOU. Very few regional British airports have a station this close.

The buses

• Unilink U1A, headsigned Airport, runs 04:43 to 01:02, about 735 scheduled calls.
• Unilink U1C, headsigned NOCS, runs 04:50 to 00:43, about 1040 calls. NOCS is the National Oceanography Centre at the docks.
• The U1 family is the University of Southampton's route, which is why it runs to the small hours and at high frequency.
• Bluestar route 2 runs Eastleigh, Fair Oak and Southampton, 05:06 to 00:39, about 930 calls.
• U1E adds a few Eastleigh trips in the late afternoon.

The stops nearby

• Royal Mail Centre and Lakeside Country Park, both under 600 metres.
• York Road, Mount Park, Doncaster Road, Eastleigh College and Trojans Sports Club, all within about 1.3 km.

Orientation

• The airport is in Eastleigh, a few kilometres north-east of Southampton itself.
• Southampton Central is the main station for the city and the cruise terminals.
• The terminal is small and the walk to the station is genuinely short, which makes SOU one of the easier UK airports to arrive at without a car.
