Teesside Airport (MME) to Darlington and the Tees Valley
Stagecoach service 6 runs hourly through the airport between Stockton and Darlington, and the single is capped at 3.00 GBP.
- Stagecoach service 6 runs hourly and calls at the airport.
- The single fare is capped at 3.00 GBP under the England-wide bus fare cap, which runs to the end of 2026 and drops to 2.00 GBP on 1 January 2027.
- It links Stockton on Tees, Yarm, Eaglescliffe, the airport, Middleton St George and Darlington.
- Darlington is about 15 minutes away, Middlesbrough about 20, Hartlepool and Redcar about 35.
- Darlington station is the real rail connection, on the East Coast Main Line to London, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh.
- The airport has its own railway station, Teesside Airport, but its service has always been minimal and it has been closed for repairs.
The bus
- Service 6, hourly, run by Stagecoach, along the Stockton to Darlington corridor through the airport.
- The stops in order are Stockton High Street North, Ingleby Barwick, Yarm, Eaglescliffe, Teesside Airport, Middleton St George, Darlington Town Hall, Hurworth and Tubwell Row.
- Hourly is thin. Check the departure against your flight rather than assuming a connection.
What it costs
England caps single bus fares on participating services, and Stagecoach participates.
- 3.00 GBP maximum for a single to the end of 2026.
- 2.00 GBP from 1 January 2027, when the cap is cut.
- Buy from the driver with a card or contactless.
That makes the bus roughly a tenth of a taxi to Darlington, if the hourly timetable happens to suit you.
Tees Flex, an on-demand minibus you book through an app, also serves the airport and is the fallback when service 6 does not run at your hour.
Driving times the airport publishes
- Darlington and Stockton: around 15 minutes.
- Middlesbrough: about 20 minutes.
- Hartlepool and Redcar: about 35 minutes.
- Newcastle city centre: just over 50 minutes. Leeds: about 75.
The station nobody uses
- Teesside Airport station stands next to the airport and is famous for having almost no trains.
- It has been closed for repairs to the railway, so even that skeleton service is not a plan.
- Darlington, six miles away, is the station that works, with more than 40 trains a day on the East Coast Main Line.
