Reggio Calabria Airport (REG) to the city and the port
A single on the ATAM bus is 1.50 EUR, and lines 27 and 28 run into the centre every 30 minutes.
- A single is 1.50 EUR, bought from the driver, at the airport newsstand or at any tabaccheria.
- Lines 27 and 28 run to the city centre every 30 minutes, and are the standard way in.
- Line 27 is the most direct, reaching Reggio Calabria Centrale station in about 30 minutes.
- Buses leave the airport every hour from 06:00 to 24:00 on the main pattern.
- A direct Porto to Aeroporto line also operates, with weekday and holiday timetables published by ATAM.
- The dedicated Messina connections were suspended on 18 June 2018. ATAM still lists them, marked as suspended.
- Do not plan a Messina connection around them. Cross the strait on the ordinary ferries instead.
- The airport is called the Aeroporto dello Stretto, the Airport of the Strait, because Sicily is across the water.

- A euro and a half is a city fare, not an airport fare, and it applies on the lines into the centre and on the port link.
- Buy from the driver, at the airport newsstand or at any tabaccheria. The tabaccheria is the Italian default and is usually cheaper than the driver elsewhere; here it is the same price and simply easier.
Into Reggio
- Lines 27 and 28, every 30 minutes, from the airport to the city centre.
- Line 27 is the most direct, about 30 minutes to Reggio Calabria Centrale railway station.
- Departures run hourly from 06:00 to 24:00 on the main pattern.
- A direct Porto to Aeroporto line links the airport with the port, where the Messina ferries and hydrofoils go from. ATAM publishes weekday and holiday timetables for it.
The Messina service that is not running
- ATAM's page for the Messina links is headed as suspended from 18 June 2018.
- Two services were offered: a Caronte ferry plus a Gran Turismo coach from Piazzale Cavallotti in Messina, and a hydrofoil plus shuttle from the port of Reggio Calabria.
- Both were timed to particular flights, and both stopped in June 2018.
- The pages are still online, which is exactly how out of date planning happens. Treat them as history.
Crossing to Sicily anyway
- The port of Reggio Calabria has hydrofoils to Messina, and Villa San Giovanni up the coast has the car ferries.
- The direct Porto to Aeroporto bus gets you to the first of those, and the crossing is then an ordinary ticket.
