- Quoted bus fares vary between about 4.05 and 4.75 EUR depending on the source and where exactly you get off, and neither the airport nor TPL FVG publishes a single airport figure. The airport does say the fares are equivalent to urban bus prices.
- Buy at the machines in the terminal and at the bus stop. In the city, buy at the stops before boarding.
The intermodal hub
- Trieste Airport is built as a polo intermodale: a national rail stop, a bus station serving 16 lines and a 1,500 space car park.
- A raised walkway has linked the rail stop to the terminal since 19 March 2018.
- That is why the train works here and does not at most Italian airports of this size.
The trains
- About 33 services a day, 27 minutes to Trieste Centrale over 28 km.
- All regional trains run the Venice to Portogruaro to Trieste line and the Trieste to Cervignano to Udine to Tarvisio line, so both directions reach Trieste Centrale.
- Six high speed and 48 regional trains a day call in total, along with the MICOTRA to Villach and two services to Ljubljana.
The buses
- G51 connects Udine, the airport, Monfalcone and Trieste.
- Every 30 minutes on weekdays, every one to two hours at weekends.
