Getting from Bodo Airport to the city

Walk it

• This is the rare airport where the operator's own advice is to walk. It is about one kilometre from the terminal down to the centre of Bodo, a 10 to 15 minute walk.
• The route: out of the main entrance, straight ahead, across the main road and into Hernesveien, which runs directly to the centre.
• Avinor publishes a map showing the way to the centre and the shopping mall.

The bus

• Lines 1 and 4 stop just to the left of the main entrance.
• Line 1 runs every 10 minutes in the morning and afternoon peaks and every 15 minutes at other weekday times. The weekend timetable is more limited.
• The ride to the centre is about 5 minutes.
• Regional buses to and from the Salten area also call directly at the airport, so you do not have to go into Bodo first.
• Plan journeys on Reis Nordland.

Onward by rail and water

• Bodo is the northern terminus of the Norwegian rail network. The station is about 5 minutes from the airport by road and has several daily departures to Trondheim as well as local and regional services.
• The express boat quay, also about 5 minutes away, serves Lofoten, Helgeland, Steigen and the Vaeran archipelago.
• The ferry dock, just north of the centre, is about 5 minutes away and runs to Moskenes in Lofoten, and to Vaeroy and Rost.
• For most people arriving at Bodo, one of these is the real destination, not the town.

Taxi, and a warning worth reading

• The rank is right outside the main entrance.
• Avinor's own taxi page flags a change in the professional transport law that allows more operators to run taxi businesses in Norway.
• The consequence is that prices vary. There is no single regulated meter to fall back on.
• Drivers are required to tell you the price before the trip starts. Make them.
