Trondheim Airport (TRD) to the city
Vaernes is inside AtB zone A, so a prepaid train ticket into Trondheim is 43 kr and includes a bus transfer; the airport coach does not accept AtB tickets at all.
- A prepaid AtB single in one zone is 43 kr, and zone A covers Trondheim, Malvik and Stjordal, the municipality the airport sits in. So the train into the city is an ordinary city fare.

- The useful fact is the zone. AtB's zone A takes in Trondheim, Malvik, Stjordal, Melhus, Skaun and Orkland, and the airport is in Stjordal, so getting into the city is a one zone journey at the ordinary 43 kr fare.
- The AtB train ticket carries a bus transfer inside the same zone, on single and period tickets alike, so the last leg to your door is included.
- Vaernesekspressen sits outside all of that. AtB tickets do not work on it, and there is no transfer between it and AtB's buses. Buy in its app or on board.
- Its cheapest fares come from buying online or in the app the day before, valid from two hours before to ten hours after the departure you pick. Buy on the day and you pay the onboard price.
