The Finnmark bus network is partly on request
- Snelandia runs ordinary buses on the busier corridors and Fleks services where there are too few passengers to justify a scheduled bus. Fleks routes exist on the timetable but only run when somebody books them.
- The booking deadline is two hours before the route starts. Note the wording: two hours before the start of the route, not two hours before it reaches your stop.
- For the first departure of the following morning, book by 21:00 the evening before, so the driver can plan.
- Fleks is normally operated by taxi or minibus. On some stretches the vehicle is a taxi with four seats, so capacity is genuinely small and prebooked passengers are prioritised.
- If you miss the deadline you may still turn up: if somebody else has booked the trip and there is a free seat, the driver will normally take you. That is a gamble, not a plan.
Luggage on a Fleks service
- Space is limited on a taxi-operated Fleks route. Snelandia asks you to ring customer service in advance if you have a lot of luggage.
- Bicycles and dogs are not normally carried unless agreed beforehand. For an airport transfer with hold baggage, that is worth a phone call.
