Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL) to the city
Flytoget is about 243 NOK and Vy about 124 NOK for the same journey a few minutes apart - the airport express is not the only train.
- There are two trains on the same line and most visitors only find one. Flytoget is the airport express; Vy runs ordinary trains from the same platforms.
- Flytoget is about 243 NOK; the Vy L12 is about 124 NOK booked in the app - roughly half.
- The time difference is six to eleven minutes. Flytoget takes about 19 minutes to Oslo S, Vy about 25 to 30.
- Both leave from the station beneath the terminal. You are not choosing between a train and a bus; you are choosing between two trains at the same platforms.
- Buy Vy in the app before you reach the platform - it is where the cheaper fare lives.
Two trains, one line
Gardermoen is about 50 km north of Oslo and the railway beneath the terminal is the only sensible way in. What nobody tells arriving passengers is that two operators use it.

About twice the price for six to eleven minutes. Flytoget is comfortable, has generous luggage space and is very frequent, and for some travellers that is worth it. But the choice should be a choice, and the signage at Gardermoen makes Flytoget look like the airport train rather than an airport train.
How to buy
- Vy tickets are cheapest in the Vy app, bought before you board.
- Flytoget sells at its own gates and machines, and takes contactless.
- Vy trains continue beyond Oslo S to Drammen and elsewhere, which is useful if Oslo is not your final stop.
Note on the rest of Norway
- Gardermoen is on the main line north, so Lillehammer, Hamar and Trondheim are direct.
- Oslo has a second "Oslo" airport: Sandefjord Torp (TRF), about 110 km southwest, used by low-cost carriers. It is a different journey entirely - see its own page.
