Værøy (VRY): a helicopter, not a plane, and the booking line has opening hours
Værøy is served by an AW139 helicopter from Bodø, twice daily on weekdays and once a day at weekends. The booking line is staffed only in set windows, so you cannot ring it whenever you like.
- Værøy is a heliport, not an airport. The service is a helicopter from Bodø Airport, not a fixed wing flight.
- The aircraft is an AW139.
- Two flights a day Monday to Friday, one a day on Saturday and Sunday. That is the whole schedule.
- Lufttransport has held the contract since January 1993. It is one of the longest running lifeline air services in Norway.
- The route crosses Vestfjorden, which the operator itself calls a weather exposed stretch.

- The booking line is open Monday to Friday 08:00 to 12:30 and 15:30 to 17:45.
- Saturday it is open 07:30 to 09:45 and Sunday 15:30 to 17:45 only.
- That number is only for the Bodø to Værøy route. It is not a general airline enquiry line.
- Avinor publishes almost nothing for this heliport, not even parking details, so treat the operator as the source.
- The sea route is the alternative, and Nordland's travel guarantee does not cover ferries or weather.
- Give yourself slack at both ends. With one or two rotations a day, a missed connection costs half a day at best.
It is a helicopter service
- Værøy has a helicopter pad, not an airstrip. The link to the mainland is a scheduled helicopter between Bodø Airport and Værøy helikopterhavn, and it is flown with an AW139.
- Lufttransport AS has held the contract since January 1993, which makes this one of the longest running lifeline air connections in Norway. The operator describes it as an important transport link on a weather exposed crossing of Vestfjorden, and that is not marketing.
The schedule
- Two flights per day Monday to Friday. One per day on Saturday and on Sunday.
- With that frequency, a cancelled rotation is not a delay of an hour but of half a day or more. Build slack into anything that has to connect.

What Avinor does not tell you
- Avinor lists Værøy Heliport among its sites but publishes essentially no practical content for it, not even parking information. The operator's own page is the source to use.
- The sea is the alternative when the helicopter does not fly. Note that Nordland's travel guarantee does not cover ferries, and does not apply to cancellations caused by extraordinary weather, which over Vestfjorden is the common case.
