Getting from Fukushima Airport to the city

The bus

• The limousine bus runs between JR Koriyama station and the airport, meeting six departing and six arriving flights.
• That means the timetable follows the flight schedule. Check it against your own flight rather than assuming a regular service.
• Koriyama is a Tohoku Shinkansen stop, about 80 minutes from Tokyo, which is the connection that matters.

Everything else at the terminal

• Taxis wait in front of the terminal building.
• Four car hire companies have their own counters in the domestic arrivals lobby.
• The car park holds 2300 vehicles and costs nothing. Gates open at 05:30 and close at 21:30, and stays of more than a week should be notified.

The airport's situation

• Traffic fell sharply after 2011 and has been rebuilt slowly, with domestic services to Osaka and Sapporo and seasonal international charters.
• The Shinkansen through Koriyama and Fukushima carries most of the Tokyo traffic, which is why the airport leans on routes the train cannot serve.
