  • Sakaiminato: 100 yen, about 30 minutes, on Minatoru, a bookable shared bus.

Why Kitaro

  • Sakaiminato is the home town of Mizuki Shigeru, creator of GeGeGe no Kitaro, and the town is built around the manga: a road of bronze yokai statues, a museum, themed trains on the Sakai line.
  • The airport was renamed Yonago Kitaro Airport for the same reason.
  • Matsue, about 45 minutes away, has one of Japan's few original castles.
