Getting from Tokushima Awaodori Airport to the city

What actually serves the airport

• The stop named Tokushima Awaodori Airport appears in the Matsushige Town community bus data about a kilometre from the runway reference point.
• Two community lines run there: the Nagahara Tobu line, 08:37 to 17:29, about 60 scheduled calls, and the Sasakino Nagahara line, 06:45 to 18:15, about 42 calls.
• These are village circulars. They run clockwise and anticlockwise loops around Matsushige, and they are cheap but slow.

The Tokushima Bus routes

• Naruto lines 18, 25 and 23 pass within about 1.3 km, using stops such as Ban Naizu mae and Menkyo Center mae.
• Line 18 runs 08:42 to 19:39, line 25 from 08:59 to 20:12, line 23 from 08:10 to 17:35.
• Nothing starts before half past eight on these, which rules them out for early flights.

What most people do

• Airport limousine buses run to Tokushima station timed to flights, and that is the standard connection.
• Taxis are available at the terminal. The city is about 10 km south.

• The airport is in Matsushige, on the coast north of Tokushima city.
• It shares its runway with the Tokushima Air Base, a Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force facility, which is why the air base main gate appears as a nearby stop.
• Naruto, with its famous whirlpools and the bridge to Awaji island, is a short distance north.
• The airport takes its name from the Awa Odori, the dance festival held in Tokushima each August.
