Getting from Takamatsu Airport to the city

The limousine coach

• Seisan Kanko operates the Takamatsu Airport limousine bus between the airport and Kanonji and Shikokuchuo.
• About 12 scheduled calls appear in the published timetable, running 08:26 to 19:25.
• A reservation-only version of the same service adds trips at the edges of the day, logged at 06:27 and 21:50.
• The far-end stops are Kawanoe and JR Iyo-Mishima station.

Why this route exists

• Shikokuchuo and Kanonji are in western Kagawa and eastern Ehime, an hour or more from Takamatsu by road.
• For that corridor, Takamatsu is the nearest airport, and the coach saves a change in the city.
• Shikokuchuo is Japan's paper manufacturing centre, which is why there is enough business traffic to sustain it.

Getting to Takamatsu itself

• The city is about 15 km north of the airport, down off the plateau.
• Takamatsu is the ferry port for the Seto Inland Sea islands: Naoshima, Teshima, Shodoshima. That is why most visitors come.
• Ritsurin Garden, one of Japan's finest, is in the city.

A practical warning

• The airport is inland and elevated, and fog closures are a known problem in the colder months. Flights divert to Osaka.
• The Seto Ohashi bridge and the JR line to Okayama are the overland alternative, and the Shinkansen at Okayama is about an hour from Takamatsu by train.
