Miyazaki (KMI): a station in the terminal, with limited expresses
Miyazaki Airport Station sits at the terminal on the Miyazaki Airport Line. Nichirin and Hyuga limited expresses run from it, plus a through train to Hakata.
- The airport has its own railway station, Miyazaki Airport Station.
- It is on the Miyazaki Airport Line, connecting to the Nippo Main Line.
- Nichirin limited expresses run from the airport to Oita, several times a day.
- Hyuga limited expresses run to Nobeoka.
- A Nichirin Seagaia service runs through to Hakata, in Fukuoka, in the afternoon.
- There is also a service to Kokura, at the northern tip of Kyushu.
- Local trains run to Takanabe and other stops up the coast.
- Bus stand 1 at the airport is the Miyazaki Station route, run by Miyazaki Kotsu.
The station
- Miyazaki Airport Station is at the terminal, on the Miyazaki Airport Line, which joins the Nippo Main Line.
- This is a proper railway connection, not a shuttle. Limited express trains start here and run out across Kyushu.
What runs from it
- Nichirin limited expresses to Oita, spread through the day from the morning onwards.
- Hyuga limited expresses to Nobeoka, the industrial city up the coast.
- A Nichirin Seagaia service to Hakata in the afternoon, which is the through train to Fukuoka.
- A Nichirin to Kokura, at the Kyushu end of the Kanmon strait.
- Local services to Takanabe and the nearer coastal towns.
The buses
- Bus stand 1 at the airport is the Miyazaki Station route.
- Miyazaki Kotsu operates it, and the airport publishes the departure times in both directions.
- Enquiries go to Miyazaki Kotsu's customer centre on 0570-039-385, open on weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00 and at weekends and holidays from 09:00.
Context
- The airport is about 5 km south-east of central Miyazaki, on the coast.
- Bougainvillea in the name reflects the subtropical climate that is the region's selling point.
- Miyazaki is the base for the Nichinan coast, Aoshima and the Takachiho gorge inland.
