Obihiro (OBO): forty minutes to the station by bus
The airport publishes about 40 minutes by bus to JR Obihiro station, 10 minutes by car to Koufuku station and 40 to Tokachigawa Onsen.

Getting into town
- JR Obihiro station: about 40 minutes by bus. The bus is the public connection, timed to flights.
- Koufuku station: about 10 minutes by car. The name means happiness and the disused station is a small tourist attraction, with visitors leaving tickets from Aikoku, love country, to Koufuku, happiness.
- Obihiro racecourse: about 35 minutes. It hosts banei keiba, the draught horse racing found nowhere else.
- Tokachigawa Onsen: about 40 minutes, a hot spring resort with moor hot springs.

Why the airport matters
- Tokachi is the agricultural heart of Hokkaido, producing much of Japan's dairy, beans and potatoes.
- Obihiro is the region's city, and the airport carries a good deal of business and food-industry traffic.
- It is also the gateway to Daisetsuzan National Park from the south.
