Getting from Kochi Ryoma Airport to the city

The airport bus

• Kochi Ekimae Kanko runs the airport connection bus, calling at Kochi Ryoma Airport.
• It runs to Kochi Station Bus Terminal via the Tobu Expressway, about 102 scheduled calls, 06:45 to 20:35.
• The expressway routing is the point. It bypasses the coastal road through Nankoku and keeps the journey down.
• Kochi Station is where everything meets: JR's Dosan line, the Tosaden tram network, and the coaches over the mountains to Okayama and Osaka.

The shared taxi

• The Kochi Prefecture Air Travel Promotion Council publishes a shared airport taxi service.
• It runs between the airport and Noichi station, about 38 scheduled calls, 06:50 to 21:20.
• Noichi is on the Tosa Kuroshio Railway's Gomen-Nahari line, the coastal railway running east from Gomen.
• This is the useful option if you are heading east along the coast rather than into the city.

Orientation

• The airport is in Nankoku city, east of Kochi itself, on the coastal plain.
• Kochi is the capital of the old Tosa province, known for Katsurahama beach, the Sunday market and Kochi Castle.
• The airport carries the name of Sakamoto Ryoma, the nineteenth century figure from Tosa who is central to the city's identity.

Practical notes

• Both services stop by around half past eight in the evening.
• Shikoku is not a dense rail island, so the bus and the shared taxi genuinely are the public options here.
