Getting from Nagasaki Airport to the city

The two city routes

• The nonstop, via the Dejima road, leaves from stand 5. It runs to Shinchi Chinatown, Nagasaki station and Cocowalk Morimachi.
• The route via Showamachi leaves from stand 4, calling at Urakami station, Cocowalk Morimachi and Nagasaki station.
• Take stand 5 if you are going straight into the centre. The Dejima road is the tunnel route and it is much faster.
• Nagasaki Kenei Bus and Nagasaki Bus operate the services.

Fares

• Shinchi Chinatown and Nagasaki station: 1400 yen one way, 700 yen for children.
• Stops within the Nagasaki bypass: 800 yen.
• Isahaya interchange: 760 yen. Kouzaki on the expressway: 360 yen.
• Half fare for children of primary school age and for holders of disability or rehabilitation certificates.

The Shinkansen connection

• A separate service runs towards Huis Ten Bosch, Sasebo and Sasa via Shin-Omura station.
• Shin-Omura is on the Nishi Kyushu Shinkansen, so the stop at Uematsu-higashi is the nearest bus stop to the high-speed line.

The airport itself

• Nagasaki Airport is built on a reclaimed island in Omura Bay, connected by a bridge.
• It was the world's first purpose-built offshore airport, opened in 1975.
• The airport publishes both bus and boat departure times, since boats across the bay are part of the connection network here.
• Nagasaki city is about 40 km south-west, which is why the bus fare is what it is.
