Borkum (BMK): OFD says all flights to Borkum are currently suspended
The Emden to Borkum timetable is still on OFD's site, under a banner saying every flight to Borkum is suspended. Check before you build a trip on it.
- OFD's Emden to Borkum page states that all flights to Borkum are currently suspended.
- The timetable is still published underneath. That is the trap: the page looks like a working schedule.
- Confirm by phone before booking, on 04921 8992-0.
- The flight from Emden takes 15 minutes when it runs.
- The published outbound times are 08:30 and 14:30 on Monday and Thursday, 13:15 on Tuesday and 09:30 at weekends.
- The published return times from Borkum are 12:30 and 15:30.
- FLN at Norddeich also runs day trips to Borkum, separate from OFD's scheduled service.
- Borkum is the largest East Frisian island and the furthest west, close to the Dutch border.
- The ferry from Emden takes about two hours, which is why a 15 minute flight was worth having.
- Ostfriesland Tourismus lists OFD as the operator for Borkum flights and links to inselflieger.de.
- Some shipping lines sell a Verbundkarte combining a flight one way with a ferry the other.
The suspension
- OFD's own Emden to Borkum page carries the line "Aktuell sind alle Fluege nach Borkum ausgesetzt": all flights to Borkum are currently suspended, with a promise to announce a resumption there.
- The timetable is published below that banner, complete with departure and arrival times by day of week. Read casually, the page looks like a live schedule.

- Return departures from Borkum are published at 12:30 and 15:30 on Monday and Thursday.
- The flight is 15 minutes from Emden, against roughly two hours on the ferry.
The other way to fly
- FLN Frisia at Norden-Norddeich runs day trips to Borkum, separately from OFD's scheduled service. That is a different product with different rules: reservation required, 15 minutes before the slot, 10 kg of baggage.
The island
- Borkum is the largest East Frisian island and the westernmost, close to the Dutch border and the Ems estuary.
- Ostfriesland Tourismus names OFD as the operator for Borkum and links to inselflieger.de.
- Some shipping lines sell a Verbundkarte letting you fly out and return by ferry.
