Borkum (BMK): OFD says all flights to Borkum are currently suspended

The Emden to Borkum timetable is still on OFD's site, under a banner saying every flight to Borkum is suspended. Check before you build a trip on it.

  • OFD's Emden to Borkum page states that all flights to Borkum are currently suspended.
  • The timetable is still published underneath. That is the trap: the page looks like a working schedule.
  • Confirm by phone before booking, on 04921 8992-0.
  • The flight from Emden takes 15 minutes when it runs.
  • The published outbound times are 08:30 and 14:30 on Monday and Thursday, 13:15 on Tuesday and 09:30 at weekends.
  • The published return times from Borkum are 12:30 and 15:30.
  • FLN at Norddeich also runs day trips to Borkum, separate from OFD's scheduled service.
  • Borkum is the largest East Frisian island and the furthest west, close to the Dutch border.
  • The ferry from Emden takes about two hours, which is why a 15 minute flight was worth having.
  • Ostfriesland Tourismus lists OFD as the operator for Borkum flights and links to inselflieger.de.
  • Some shipping lines sell a Verbundkarte combining a flight one way with a ferry the other.

The suspension

  • OFD's own Emden to Borkum page carries the line "Aktuell sind alle Fluege nach Borkum ausgesetzt": all flights to Borkum are currently suspended, with a promise to announce a resumption there.
  • The timetable is published below that banner, complete with departure and arrival times by day of week. Read casually, the page looks like a live schedule.
  • Phone before you plan. OFD is on 04921 8992-0, or info@fliegofd.de.
