Dresden (DRS): the S2 leaves from under the terminal
Take the escalator down. The S2 runs every half hour to Dresden-Neustadt in 14 minutes and to the Hauptbahnhof in 21, and it is an ordinary city fare.
- Dresden Airport station is in the basement of the terminal itself. No shuttle, no walk outside.
- Escalators and lifts connect the platform to arrivals, departures, the conference level and the gallery level.
- Line S2 runs every 30 minutes.
- 21 minutes to Dresden Hauptbahnhof for onward long distance trains.
- 14 minutes to Dresden-Neustadt, which is closer to the Neustadt bar and restaurant district.
- On Mondays to Fridays the S2 continues to Heidenau and Pirna in Saxon Switzerland.
- Buses 77 and 80 stop right at the terminal entrance. Bus 77 connects to Infineon Nord for a tram to the main station; bus 80 reaches the trams at Grenzstrasse and Kaethe-Kollwitz-Platz.
- This is one of the cheapest airport rail links in Germany, because it is priced as an ordinary Dresden fare rather than as an airport express.
The S-Bahn
- The station is in the basement of the terminal. This is unusual and worth knowing: you do not leave the building to reach the train.
- Escalators and lifts run from the platform to the arrivals level, the departures level, the conference level and the gallery level.
- Line S2 runs every 30 minutes.

- Neustadt is the closer of the two and is the better stop if you are staying on the north bank. The Hauptbahnhof is where the long distance trains are.
- Monday to Friday the S2 also runs the other way, to Heidenau and Pirna, which is the gateway to Saxon Switzerland.
Tickets
- This is an ordinary Dresden fare, not an airport supplement. The same ticket is valid on the S-Bahn, the trams and the buses.
- Buy at the machines in the station or at the airport information desk on the arrivals level of the terminal.
The buses
- Buses 77 and 80 stop directly at the terminal entrance.
- Bus 77 links the airport to the Infineon Nord stop, where you pick up a tram to the main station.
- Bus 80 takes you to tram stops on Grenzstrasse and at Kaethe-Kollwitz-Platz.
- For almost everyone the S2 is the better answer. The buses matter if you are going somewhere in the north of the city rather than into the centre.
