Wangerooge (AGE): reserve the seat, and count your kilos
Both operators flying here work by reservation. FLN runs day trips from Norddeich and OFD serves the island too. Baggage is ten kilos and carriage depends on space.
- Ostfriesland Tourismus lists OFD as flying Wangerooge, alongside Langeoog, Baltrum and Norderney.
- FLN Frisia runs day trips to Wangerooge from Norden-Norddeich.
- Every FLN flight requires a reservation in advance, by phone or through its contact form.
- Be at the airfield at least 15 minutes before the agreed time or the seat may be resold.
- Check-in only happens together with handing over your baggage.
- Baggage is 10 kg free per passenger, 5 kg for children up to 11, and no piece over 20 kg.
- Baggage travels only if size, weight and space allow. On a light aircraft that is a real limit.
- Wangerooge is car-free. The island railway from the ferry pier is the local transport, and the airfield is on the island itself.
- The ferry is tide-dependent. Ostfriesland Tourismus makes the point that some islands are reachable by sea only once a day, which is why flying matters here.
- Some shipping lines sell a Verbundkarte: fly one way, ferry the other.
- The nearest international airport is Bremen.
Who flies here
- Ostfriesland Tourismus, the regional tourism board, lists OFD Ostfriesischer Flug-Dienst as flying Wangerooge, along with Langeoog, Baltrum and Norderney.
- FLN Frisia, from Norden-Norddeich, runs day trips to Wangerooge as part of its island programme.
- Both are small operators flying light aircraft, and neither works on a walk-up basis.
The rules that apply
- Reserve every flight in advance. FLN is explicit: booking by telephone or through the contact form is required.
- Be at the airfield at least 15 minutes before the agreed time. After that the reserved seat may be given to someone else.
- Check-in is only possible together with handing over your baggage.

- Excess is charged at the tariff, no piece may exceed 20 kg, and everything travels subject to available space.
The island
- Wangerooge is car-free. The island railway runs from the ferry pier to the village, and there are no private cars.
- The ferry crossing is tide-dependent, which on some days limits it to a single sailing. That is the practical reason a small island keeps an airfield.
- Some shipping lines sell a Verbundkarte combining a flight one way with a ferry the other.
- Bremen is the nearest international airport for onward connections.
