Norddeich (NOD): reserve first, and arrive 15 minutes before your slot

FLN runs this airfield on demand with fixed departure times. Nothing here is walk-up: every flight has to be booked, and a passenger who is not there 15 minutes early can have the seat resold.

  • Every flight requires a reservation in advance. FLN says so plainly; you book by phone or through its contact form.
  • Be at the airfield at least 15 minutes before the agreed time. After that your reserved seat can be given to someone else.
  • Check-in only happens together with handing over your baggage. There is no separate desk step.
  • Baggage is 10 kg free per passenger, 5 kg for children up to 11, with excess charged at the tariff.
  • No single piece may exceed 20 kg, and baggage travels only if there is room for it by size and weight.
  • Fixed departure times run year round to Juist and Norderney.
  • Day trips run to Borkum, Baltrum, Langeoog, Wangerooge and Helgoland.
  • The airfield sits right on the coast, which is the point: it is the shortest hop to Juist, Norderney, Baltrum and Langeoog.
  • It is close to the Norddeich island ferry harbour and to Norddeich-Mole station, so you can arrive by train and fly out.
  • Flying is a genuine alternative here. Some of these islands are tide-dependent and reachable by ferry only once a day.
  • Some shipping lines sell a Verbundkarte: fly out, come back by ferry, or the other way round.
  • Note: FLN's website currently carries injected spam links unrelated to aviation. The operational text is the operator's own, but treat the site with the usual care.

How this airfield works

  • FLN Frisia-Luftverkehr operates Flugplatz Norden-Norddeich for year-round demand traffic with fixed departure times to Juist and Norderney.
  • It is not a walk-up airport. Every flight requires a prior reservation, made by phone or through the operator's contact form.
  • You must be at the airfield at least 15 minutes before the agreed time. FLN states that after this point your reserved flight may be disposed of otherwise, which means the seat can go to someone else.
  • Check-in is only possible in connection with handing over your baggage, so allow for that in the fifteen minutes.

Baggage

Norddeich (NOD): reserve first, and arrive 15 minutes before your slot
PassengerFree allowance
Adult10 kg
Child up to 115 kg
  • Excess is charged at the published tariff.
  • No single piece may exceed 20 kg.
  • Baggage is only carried if size, weight and available space allow. On a nine-seat island aircraft that is a real constraint, not boilerplate.

Where it goes

  • Scheduled fixed-time flights: Juist and Norderney.
  • Day trips: Borkum, Baltrum, Langeoog, Wangerooge, and Helgoland out in the German Bight.
  • Sightseeing flights over the islands and the coast are the other half of the business.

Why fly at all

  • Several East Frisian islands are tide-dependent and can be reached by ferry only once a day. Ostfriesland Tourismus makes exactly this point: the plane is a real alternative, not a luxury.
  • Some shipping lines sell a Verbundkarte that combines a flight one way with a ferry the other.

Getting to the airfield

  • It is immediately on the coast, next to the Norddeich island ferry harbour and close to Norddeich-Mole station.
  • That combination is unusual and useful: train to Norddeich-Mole, short hop to the airfield, fifteen minutes to the island.

One caution about the source

  • FLN's own website currently carries injected spam links on unrelated subjects. The operational information used here is the operator's own text, but a site in that condition is worth double-checking by phone before you rely on a time.
