Leipzig Halle Airport (LEJ) to Leipzig and Halle
S-Bahn lines S5 and S5X run every half hour, 14 minutes to Leipzig Hauptbahnhof and 10 minutes to Halle, on ordinary MDV tickets.
- The airport station is under the terminal, served by S-Bahn lines S5 and S5X.
- Leipzig Hauptbahnhof is 14 minutes away, Halle Hauptbahnhof is 10 minutes.
- Halle is the closer of the two cities, which is the opposite of what the airport's name suggests.
- Trains run every half hour.
- An MDV single is 3.80 EUR for one zone in Leipzig and 3.50 EUR for one zone in Halle; two zones cost 5.00 EUR.
- The NXL night bus adds a connection outside S-Bahn hours, on the same MDV fare.
Two cities, one airport
- S5 and S5X run every half hour, part of the S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland network.
- The station is beneath the terminal.
- Halle is nearer. Anyone whose destination is Halle should not route through Leipzig.
The fares
- The airport is in the MDV network, so buy an MDV ticket rather than a Deutsche Bahn one.
- Tickets come from machines at the stop, in the vehicles, from customer centres, from selected shops or online.
Late arrivals
- The NXL night bus runs to the airport outside S-Bahn hours, on the MDV fare, which fills the gap the half hourly S-Bahn leaves.
