Getting from Huizhou Pingtan Airport to the city

The ground leg is free, the flight is not

• Huizhou sits an hour and a half from Shenzhen Bao'an and two hours from Guangzhou Baiyun, and it has bought its way into their catchment by giving away the coach. Five free cross city shuttle lines now run into the terminal, and the fare condition is the same on every one: a valid same day boarding pass for a Huizhou flight, paper or electronic.
• The lines opened in this order: Shenzhen Longgang on 1 July 2025, Dongguan Songshan Lake on 15 July 2025, Heyuan on 16 December 2025, Shanwei on 19 December 2025 and Shenzhen Pingshan on 17 August 2026.
• All of them are nine seat electric vehicles, which is why the airport tells you to reserve by phone rather than turn up.

Where each one starts, and when

• Shenzhen Longgang, Jixianglai Garden Building 2, Longcheng Street, Longgang Central City, +86 755 89893330. 24 round trips a day. First from Longgang 06:00, last 19:10; first from the airport 09:15, last 22:05; about 80 minutes.
• Dongguan Songshan Lake, Room 101, Building 1, Zone A, Everbright We Valley, 2 Zongbu Er Road, +86 769 22898818. 24 round trips, about 80 minutes.
• Heyuan, the DoubleTree by Hilton on Yuewang Avenue in Yuancheng district, +86 762 3453333. At least 16 round trips, about 90 minutes.
• Shanwei, the Paris Peninsula Hotel on Shanwei Avenue, +86 660 3233555. At least 16 round trips, about 90 minutes.
• Shenzhen Pingshan, 2007 Pingshan Avenue by exit C of Jinlong metro station, +86 189 2730 3020. 16 round trips. First from Pingshan 07:50, last 19:00; first from the airport 10:30, last 00:30; about 70 minutes.

The two things that catch people out

• Have the boarding pass before you reach the desk. The airport's own advice is to issue it in the airline's mini programme or the Umetrip app first, because doing it at the counter is what makes people miss the departure.
• At the airport end there is exactly one place to go: the Transport and Tourism Service Centre at the exit of the T2 arrivals hall, +86 752 2287666. It handles all five lines. It is not the same kerb as the paid city buses.

Where the bus actually stops

• The airport bus and public bus boarding point is 50 metres west of the current T2 terminal, in front of the old T1 building. That is a short walk in the open, and it is not signposted as obviously as the taxi rank.
• Huizhou's free inter city shuttles, by contrast, are handled inside, at the Transport and Tourism Service Centre at the T2 arrivals exit. The two do not share a kerb.

The two express routes

• 211, Huizhou railway station to the airport. Service 07:00 to 21:30 in the city to airport direction and 08:25 to 22:55 the other way, every 30 minutes. The route is 31.3 km with 12 stops, and the fare is 2 yuan for the first 12 km with 1 yuan per further 6 km, 6 yuan end to end.
• 212, Huizhou coach station to the airport. Service 07:20 to 21:50 and 08:40 to 23:10, every 30 minutes, 2 yuan minimum and 5 yuan end to end. When 212 opened in September 2020 it replaced a coach service that had charged 8 yuan to start and 12 yuan end to end.
• The transport bureau dispatches the two jointly, which is what produces a bus roughly every 15 minutes on the airport to city leg.
• Route 302 links Zhongkai with the terminal, 07:20 to 18:20, sectional fare. Huiyang 111 runs from Huiyang high speed railway station, 06:00 to 18:20.

If you are going to Daya Bay

• A customised line runs between the Daya Bay city terminal and the airport: 38 yuan, a six seat MPV, about 58 km and 52 minutes, booked at the Daya Bay terminal desk or through the Huizhou Airport Express WeChat account. Enquiries +86 752 5206663.

The terminals

• Huizhou Pingtan sits at Pingtan town, Huiyang district, about 21 km from central Huizhou, and resumed civil flights on 5 February 2015.
• T2 opened on 28 August 2019: 16,300 square metres, four times the old T1's 4,000, with four airbridges, 13 check in desks, six self service kiosks, seven security lanes and 1,216 seats.
• T1 stayed in service. The two together are rated for five million passengers a year, and that is why bus stops and pick up points are still split between the two buildings.
