Qingdao Jiaodong (TAO): metro line 8, the non stop trains, and two taxi queues
Metro line 8 leaves from level B1 of the ground transport centre. Three airport express trains run early and late. Taxis queue in two grades at different prices.
- Metro line 8 and the railway station are both on level B1 of the ground transport centre, under the terminal.
- First train towards Qingdao North is 06:05, last train 22:05, on the normal timetable.
- First train towards Jiaozhou North is 06:57, last train 22:37.
- Two non stop airport trains run each way: from Qingdao North at 05:45 and 06:10, from the airport at 22:25 and 22:45.
- From 22 June to 8 October the metro runs later: last train towards Qingdao North 22:05, towards Jiaozhou North 22:52, and a third non stop train is added at each end.
- City buses leave from level 1 of the same building: routes 916, 3610, 3620, 3310 and 4207.
- Route 916 runs to Chengyang, 07:00 to 21:30 from the airport.
- The taxi rank is outside door 2 on level L1, and splits into a standard queue and a premium queue at different prices.
- A night surcharge of 0.4 yuan per kilometre applies from 22:00 to 05:00.
- Waiting time is charged at one kilometre of fare for every three minutes; under three minutes is free.
The metro, which is the way into Qingdao
- Metro line 8 runs from level B1 of the ground transport centre, directly under the terminal, and so does the airport's own railway station.
- On the normal timetable the first train towards Qingdao North leaves at 06:05 and the last at 22:05.
- Towards Jiaozhou North the first is 06:57 and the last 22:37.
- Two non stop airport trains run in each direction: from Qingdao North at 05:45 and 06:10 in the morning, and from the airport at 22:25 and 22:45 at night.
- Between 22 June and 8 October the airport publishes a longer peak season timetable. The last train towards Qingdao North holds at 22:05, the last towards Jiaozhou North moves to 22:52, and a third non stop train is added at each end of the day: 05:20, 05:45 and 06:10 inbound, 22:25, 22:45 and 23:15 outbound.

The trains
- The railway station at the airport is on level B1 of the ground transport centre, the same floor as the metro.
- Its passenger service number is 13869812306, published by the airport.
The city buses
- They leave from level 1 of the ground transport centre, one floor above the metro.
- Route 916 runs towards Chengyang, 07:00 to 21:30 from the airport, enquiries 0532 67730746.
- Routes 3610, 3620 and 3310 run towards Jiaozhou, 06:00 to 21:00 from the airport.
- Route 4207 runs towards Jimo, 07:00 to 21:00 from the airport, enquiries 0532 67725555.
- These are ordinary city buses, not airport coaches, so they are slow and cheap rather than direct.
The taxis, and the thing to know before you queue
- The rank is outside door 2 on level L1 of the terminal.
- Qingdao taxis are sold in two grades, standard and premium, and the rank has a separate queue for each. The airport asks you to choose before you join a queue, because the two cost different amounts.
- Between 22:00 and 05:00 an extra 0.4 yuan per kilometre is added.
- Slow running and waiting is charged at the price of one kilometre for every three minutes accumulated, and anything under three minutes is not charged.
- Ask for the receipt and note the plate number. The airport publishes 0532 12345 as the complaints line, and the receipt is what makes a complaint work.
