Zhuhai (ZUH): the one yuan bus, the Macau coach, and the flight-timed departures
Routes 207 and 504 cost a flat 1 yuan. The Airport Express reaches Macau, Zhongshan and Jiangmen, and after 20:00 it runs to meet arrivals.
- City bus 207 runs between Gongbei Port and the airport, 06:00 to 22:00 in both directions. 1 yuan flat.
- City bus 504 runs Baijiao to the airport 05:50 to 21:00, and back 06:20 to 21:30. 1 yuan flat.
- Both are conductor-free flat fare. Have the coin or the app ready.
- Gongbei Port is the land crossing to Macau, so route 207 is the cheap way to the border.
- The Airport Express coaches serve Macau, Zhuhai city, Zhongshan and Jiangmen, from the coach station in the level 1 arrivals hall.
- The Zhongzhu Building city terminal in Gongbei is 25 yuan.
- After 20:00, a coach leaves for the city whenever an arriving flight lands - calling at Zhongzhu Building, Jida Jiuzhou City and Xiangzhou coach terminal.
- Taxis queue in front of the terminal on level 1: class one cars start at 12 yuan plus 3 yuan a km beyond 3 km, class two at 10 yuan plus 2.60.
- The city is 40 to 60 minutes away by taxi.
A one yuan bus
- Zhuhai's airport is served by two ordinary city bus routes, and both charge a flat one yuan. That is not a typo and it is not a promotion.
- Route 207 runs between Gongbei Port bus terminus and the airport, 06:00 to 22:00 in both directions.
- Route 504 runs between Baijiao terminus and the airport, 05:50 to 21:00 outbound and 06:20 to 21:30 back.
- Both are conductor-free with a single fare, so you pay once when you board.
- Gongbei Port is the land border crossing into Macau, which makes route 207 the cheapest route from a Chinese airport to Macau that exists.
The coaches
- The Airport Express runs coach services to Macau, around Zhuhai, and out to Zhongshan and Jiangmen.
- They leave from the airport coach station in the level 1 arrivals hall. Fares depend on destination.
- The Zhongzhu Building city terminal in Gongbei costs 25 yuan per person.
- The good bit: after 20:00, whenever an arriving flight lands, a coach leaves for the city. It calls at Zhongzhu Building in Gongbei, Jida Jiuzhou City and Xiangzhou coach terminal. Departure times follow the flights, not a timetable.
- The Zhuhai to Xiaolan Guzhen route in Zhongshan has been suspended since 18 February 2024, and travellers there are directed to a shared-car booking in the operator's mini-programme.
Taxis
- The rank is in the waiting area in front of the terminal on level 1, straight out of the arrivals hall door.
- Metered, in a queue, with a dedicated taxi lane.
- Class one cars (wheelbase 2.8 m and over) start at 12 yuan plus 3 yuan a kilometre beyond 3 km. Class two cars start at 10 yuan plus 2.60.
- Reckon on 40 to 60 minutes to the city.
Where this airport actually is
- Zhuhai Jinwan is in the far south-west of the Pearl River Delta, a long way from Zhuhai's centre, which is why the taxi is an hour.
- Macau is next door, across the Gongbei crossing, and Hong Kong is reachable by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
- This is not Macau's airport and it is not Hong Kong's, but for a traveller heading to either it is often the cheapest way in.
