Wenzhou Longwan (WNZ): line S2 to the airport, and the coaches that came first

Line S2 has served the airport since 26 August 2023. Coaches cost 12 to 15 yuan, city buses 2 to 6, and a taxi to the south railway station over 100.

  • Wenzhou Rail Transit line S2 has a station called Airport, at the terminal.
  • The line opened on 26 August 2023, so several English guides still say the airport has no rail link.
  • S2 runs 62.945 km from Qingdong Road to Dongshan over 20 stations, at up to 140 km/h.
  • It interchanges with line S1 at the airport station itself.
  • Airport coach route 1 runs to the civil aviation ticket office for 15 yuan, about 35 minutes, from gate 5 of the domestic arrivals hall.
  • That coach runs from 05:10 to 20:30, on fixed departures rather than a frequency.
  • Airport coach route 2 runs to Wenzhou South railway station for 12 yuan, about 80 minutes, seven departures a day.
  • City bus routes 41, 71 and 73 serve the airport at 2 to 6 yuan, roughly 05:40 to 20:00.
  • A taxi to Wenzhou railway station is 70 to 80 yuan, and 100 to 110 to the south station.
  • Jiangxinyu island, the usual sight, is 100 to 120 yuan by taxi.

The railway, which arrived in 2023

  • Line S2 of the Wenzhou Rail Transit has a station at the airport, called simply Airport, in Longwan district.
  • The line opened on 26 August 2023.
  • It is a suburban railway rather than a city metro, 62.945 km from Qingdong Road to Dongshan, 20 stations, running at up to 140 km/h.
  • Line S1 interchanges at the same station, which is what makes the airport reachable from most of the built up area without a road journey.
  • Several English language guides still say no rail line serves this airport. Check the date on what you are reading.

The coaches

  • Route 1 goes to the civil aviation ticket office, from gate 5 of the domestic arrivals hall. 15 yuan, about 35 minutes. It runs on fixed departures from 05:10 through to 20:30.
  • Route 2 goes to Wenzhou South railway station, from the airport long distance bus station. 12 yuan, about 80 minutes, with seven departures a day from 10:00 to 19:00.
  • Wenzhou South is the high speed station, and 80 minutes on a coach is a long time for it. If S2 or S1 gets you there faster, take the train.

The city buses

  • Routes 41, 71 and 73 call at the airport, at 2 to 6 yuan on a sectional fare.
  • They run roughly 05:40 to 20:00.
  • The 05:40 start is useful for a morning flight, because the coach does not begin until 05:10 and only from one point in the city.

Taxis

  • Wenzhou railway station: 70 to 80 yuan, about 30 minutes.
  • Wenzhou South railway station: 100 to 110 yuan, about 40 minutes.
  • Passenger transport centre: about 90 yuan.
  • Jiangxinyu island: 100 to 120 yuan.
