Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN) to the city

The airport is in the city, so the BRT and the city buses reach it directly. The coaches, taxis and ferry shuttle each have their own door.

This is one of very few Chinese airports built inside the city itself. City buses reach it, which is unusual here.
BRT lines can be boarded directly at Terminal 4, running into the city and to destinations off the island.
Airport Express coach counters: T3 opposite door 9; T4 at door 7 and opposite door 3. Open 05:30 to 23:00.
Coaches to Xiamen North railway station leave from the west side of T3 arrivals and opposite door 5 in T4 arrivals.
The same stops serve Jinjiang and Zhangzhou.
City taxis: T3 arrivals level, automatic door 7. T4 arrivals level, automatic door 3.
Long distance taxis to Quanzhou, Shishi and Zhangzhou wait in the west car park, about 120 metres west of the T3 domestic arrivals hall.
The Wutong ferry shuttle is 6 yuan per person one way, for the sea route to Kinmen and Taiwan.

Xiamen Gaoqi is one of the small number of Chinese airports built within the urban area, and the airport says so itself. Most Chinese airports of this size are 40 km out.
The practical consequence is that ordinary city buses serve it, which is described as the economical and environmentally friendly option rather than a fallback.
BRT lines can be boarded directly at Terminal 4, going into the city centre or off the island.

The Airport Express company runs the coach network around the airport, reaching the neighbouring cities as well as Xiamen.
Ticket counters: Terminal 3, opposite door 9 on the arrivals level. Terminal 4, at door 7 and opposite door 3.
Counters are staffed 05:30 to 23:00, and the counter is the authority on today's departures.
Coaches to Xiamen North railway station go from the west side of T3 arrivals and from opposite door 5 in T4 arrivals. The same points serve Jinjiang and Zhangzhou.

There is a train ticket desk in the T3 arrivals tourist service centre, selling rail tickets for a 5 yuan service fee. Combined with the coach to Xiamen North, that is a genuine air to rail transfer.
The sea link is the unusual one. Xiamen Airport connects by shuttle to the Wutong ferry terminal for the direct crossing to Kinmen, and from Kinmen to Taiwan. The shuttle is 6 yuan per person each way.
Taiwanese passengers can check in and drop bags at the Xiamen ferry terminal and ride the shuttle straight to the aircraft, which is the whole point of the arrangement.

City taxis queue at automatic door 7 on the T3 arrivals level, and at door 3 on the T4 arrivals level.
For Quanzhou, Shishi or Zhangzhou, the long distance taxis are not at the terminal door. Leave the T3 domestic arrivals hall and walk about 120 metres west to the west car park.

Xiamen is an island city joined to the mainland by bridges and a causeway, which is why so much of the transport talk here is about being on or off the island.
Gulangyu, the car-free island of colonial villas, is a short ferry ride from the city and is the reason most visitors come.
Four long distance coach stations serve Xiamen: Fanghu, Hubin, Wucun and Jimei. For anywhere in Fujian that the Airport Express does not reach, that is the next step.
