Getting from Hulunbuir Hailar International Airport to the city

The bus network simply does not come here

• The Hulunbuir municipal transport bureau publishes the full operating disclosure of the city bus company: 12 routes (1, 2, 4, 6, 9, 15, 101 to 105 and the Yuanjing scenic line) with every stop and every first and last departure. The airport terminal appears on none of them. Route 6 calls at an "Airport Road service centre" in the economic development zone, which is a depot on the road name, not the passenger terminal.
• When routes 105 and the Yuanjing line were re-cut on 12 September 2025, the published new stop sequences again contained no airport stop.
• The city routes themselves mostly run 06:00 to 19:00 at 1 to 2 yuan, so even if one did call there it would not meet an evening flight.

The shuttle, and what nobody agrees on

• The only scheduled public link is the airline shuttle to Hailar railway station, which runs to the flights rather than to a clock. Two publishers put the fare at 5 yuan; a third puts it at 10 yuan and says it leaves when full. Treat it as 5 to 10 yuan and expect to wait for the aircraft, not for a timetable.
• The route, where it is published, is airport, Military Sub-district, City Hospital, Museum, Guomao Garden, Hailar District Hotel, Hailar railway station.
• The distance is published three different ways. China Southern says 3 km, Xinxin Travel says 5 km, Qunar says 13 km and about ten minutes by shuttle. Nothing on the operator's own site is reachable to settle it. Assume a short run, and do not plan on a specific figure.

Taxis: the meter exists but is not used

• Every source gives the same tariff: 6 yuan for the first 2 km, then 2 yuan per kilometre. On any of the three published distances that is a fare between roughly 8 and 30 yuan.
• In practice most Hailar taxis do not switch the meter on. You name the destination and the driver names a price. China Southern's own city guide says drivers usually open at 50 yuan and advises settling the price before you get in. Xinxin Travel says a railway station run is 20 to 25 yuan including tolls.
• The honest answer is that the cash price is negotiated and the two published figures are a factor of two apart. Fix the number before the door shuts, and use the shuttle if one is waiting.

What is about to change

• The Hailar international airport expansion is now in the North China civil aviation five year plan, the North China transport airport construction plan and Inner Mongolia's fifteenth five year outline, and the Hulunbuir Hailar Airport master plan has formal CAAC North China approval. The city investment group is the delivery body.
• The published construction sequence is worth knowing if you are flying internationally: the international terminal moves out of its current separate building and into T2 only after the new T3 is finished. Until then, international departures use their own building.
