Getting from Nantong Xingdong International Airport to the city

The free coaches

• Nantong runs its intercity airport shuttles free of charge, which is unusual anywhere.
• Suzhou: 12:30 and 20:00 from the airport, 09:30 and 15:30 in the other direction, about 50 minutes. Suzhou has no airport of its own, and this is a genuinely useful link.
• Hai'an: 12:30 and 18:30 out, 08:40 and 15:00 back, about 100 minutes.
• Rugao: 12:30 and 18:30 out, 09:20 and 15:40 back, about an hour.
• Haimen: 12:30 and 18:30 out, 09:00 and 15:00 back, about 80 minutes.
• Dieshiqiao: 12:30 and 18:30 out, 09:30 and 15:40 back, about 40 minutes.
• Two departures a day each way is the constraint. These are not turn up and go services; check the times against your flight before relying on one.

Getting into Nantong itself

• The city bus route is indirect. Take route 611 or 622 from the airport to Xiaoxi bus station, then change.
• For the city centre, change at Xiaoxi onto route 4.
• For Nantong railway station, change at Xiaoxi onto route 44.
• For the long distance bus station, the same transfer through Xiaoxi applies.
• Two buses and a change is a lot of effort for a journey a taxi does for 40 to 50 yuan.

Taxis

• Official taxis wait outside the terminal.
• The fare into the city proper is 40 to 50 yuan.
• Given the bus arrangement, this is the default recommendation here, which is not something worth saying about most Chinese airports.
