Taiyuan Wusu (TYN): a 25 minute taxi for 20 yuan, and the coaches that need booking
The airport is close in. A taxi to Wuyi Square is 20 to 25 yuan. Bus 201 costs 2. Three of the four coach lines have to be booked by phone.
- The airport is close to the city, which is why a taxi to Wuyi Square is only 20 to 25 yuan and 25 minutes.
- A taxi to the railway station is 35 to 45 yuan.
- City bus 201 runs between the airport and the railway station for 2 yuan, 06:00 to 20:00, every 30 minutes.
- Bus 201 covers 15.9 km over 23 stops in 45 to 55 minutes.
- Bus 901 also reaches the airport from downtown.
- Airport coach line 1 runs to the railway station for 16 yuan, 08:30 until the last flight, every 30 minutes, about 40 minutes.
- Line 3 runs to Taiyuan South railway station for 13 yuan in about 20 minutes, which is the cheapest fast way to the high speed trains.
- Line 2 to the Xishan Building costs 25 to 30 yuan and line 4 to the east bus station 25.
- Lines 2, 3 and 4 have to be booked in advance on 0351 7286994.
- Coming out from the city, coaches leave from 158 Yingze Street, at a reported 15 yuan.
The airport is close, and the prices show it
- Wusu sits just south of Taiyuan. A taxi to Wuyi Square, the central square, is 20 to 25 yuan and takes about 25 minutes.
- To the railway station a taxi is 35 to 45 yuan, also about 25 minutes.
- For a provincial capital airport those are unusually low numbers, and they change the calculation: the bus saves very little here.
The city buses
- Bus 201 runs between the airport and Taiyuan railway station for 2 yuan.
- It runs 06:00 to 20:00, every 30 minutes, covering 15.9 km over 23 stops in 45 to 55 minutes.
- Bus 901 also connects downtown with the airport.
- Two yuan against 35 for a taxi is a real saving, but so is half an hour, and the bus stops 23 times.
The coaches, and the phone number
- Line 1: airport to the railway station. From the airport 08:30 until the last flight, every 30 minutes; back from the city 06:00, 07:00, 08:00, then every 30 minutes to 20:30. 16 yuan, about 40 minutes.
- Line 3: airport to Taiyuan South railway station. 09:30 to 21:30, every 20 minutes, about 20 minutes, 13 yuan. Taiyuan South is the high speed station, so this is the connection that matters most.
- Line 2: airport to the Xishan Building, 09:30 to 21:30 every 40 minutes, 50 minutes, 25 to 30 yuan.
- Line 4: airport to the east bus station, 09:30 to 21:30 every 40 minutes, 40 minutes, 25 yuan.
- Lines 2, 3 and 4 require a booking in advance, on 0351 7286994. Turning up and expecting to board does not work on those three.
- Only line 1 can be treated as walk up, and only it runs early.
Coming back to the airport
- Coaches leave the city from 158 Yingze Street, at a reported 15 yuan.
- Bus 201 starts from the railway station.
- For a morning flight the 06:00 bus or a taxi are the options; the coaches do not start until 08:30 at the earliest.
