Sanya (SYX): the rail station is on the departures platform
Fenghuang Airport station on the Hainan loop line is joined to the terminal. Airport bus line 1 runs to Yalong Bay hourly, 09:00 to 02:00, for 25 yuan.
- There is a high-speed rail station at the airport. Fenghuang Airport station on the Hainan loop line connects directly to the terminal's departures platform, main entrance on the west side of T1.
- It sits on the western loop and on the Sanle line, which run up the west coast of Hainan and round to Sanya station.
- Airport bus line 1 goes to Yalong Bay, the main resort strip: hourly from 09:00 to 02:00, 18 departures a day, 25 yuan.
- Line 1 also stops at Sanya Bay, Haiyue Square, the main bus station on Jiefang Road, Dadonghai and Jiyang, so it covers most of where visitors stay.
- Line 2 runs to the Haitang Bay duty free city, nine departures between 10:00 and 22:00.
- Buses board opposite domestic arrivals gate 5, ground floor of complex building C.
- City buses 108, 136, 124, 127, 33, 409 and 425 stop on the ground floor of car park 2; 409 and 425 run to Sanya railway station.
- Taxi flagfall is 11 yuan for a class one car and 10 for class two, then 2.4 or 2.2 yuan per km.
The train station is part of the airport
- Fenghuang Airport station is joined to the terminal's departures platform. The main entrance is on the west side of T1. Very few Chinese airports have this.
- It is on the Hainan island loop railway, specifically the western loop (Haikou, Laocheng, Lingao, Dongfang, Ledong, Yazhou, Fenghuang Airport, Sanya) and the Sanle line (Jianfeng, Ledong, Yazhou, Nanshan North, Hongtangwan, Tianya Haijiao, Fenghuang Airport, Sanya).
- The eastern loop, which serves Boao, Wanning and Lingshui, runs from Sanya station, one stop away, not from the airport.
The airport bus
- Line 1: airport to Yalong Bay. Hourly on the hour from 09:00 through to 02:00, timed to the last flight, 18 departures a day, 25 yuan.
- Its route is the useful one: Sanya Guoguang Hosun resort on Haihong Road, Haiyue Square on Sanya Bay Road, the Everbright Bank stop on Xinfeng Road, the main bus station on Jiefang Road, the city government, Dadonghai, Hongsha, Jiyang town, then the Yalong Bay hotels.
- Line 2: airport to the Haitang Bay Sanya International Duty Free City, via the 301 Hospital and the Haitang Bay hotels. Nine departures between 10:00 and 22:00.
- Longer routes leave twice a day: Basuo at 90 yuan, Baoting Qixianling at 45 yuan, Wanning at 70 yuan. Baoting is the route past the Binglanggu and Yanoda scenic areas.
- All of these board opposite domestic arrivals gate 5, on the ground floor of complex building C.
City buses and taxis
- The city bus stop is on the ground floor of car park 2, which means walking out of the terminal and across, opposite domestic arrivals gate 5.
- Routes 108 and 136 run to Hongsha, 124 and 127 to the Yalong Bay bus hub, 33 to Nantian Farm, and 409 and 425 pass the airport between Sanya railway station and the coast.
- Taxis: flagfall 11 yuan for a class one car and 10 for class two, covering the first 2.5 km, then 2.4 or 2.2 yuan per kilometre, rising to 3.6 or 3.3 beyond 10 km. Ranks are opposite doors 4 and 5 in T1 and T2 arrivals, and outside door 01 at T3.
The airport
- Sanya Phoenix is the airport for the southern end of Hainan, which is China's tropical beach destination.
- Haitang Bay is the duty free shopping district, and the reason a lot of domestic travellers fly here at all.
- Sanya has a second airport under construction at Hongtangwan, but Phoenix is the one in use.
