Nanchang Changbei (KHN): metro line 1, extended to the airport in June 2025
The line 1 north extension opened on 28 June 2025 and the airport is now its terminus. Coaches cost 15 yuan, taxis around 100.
- Metro line 1 terminates at Changbei Airport. The extension opened on 28 June 2025.
- The extension is 16.62 km with eight stations, running north from Shuanggang.
- Line 1 now runs between Changbei Airport in the northwest and Maqiu in the east, straight through the middle of Nanchang.
- Guides written before mid 2025 say the airport has no metro. They are out of date.
- Airport coach line 1 runs to Nanchang railway station for 15 yuan, 08:00 until the last flight, every 10 to 20 minutes, about 40 minutes.
- Line 2 runs to the Jiangdian car park, also 15 yuan, every 30 minutes.
- A short working of line 2 runs to the Trilec Hotel, hourly, 09:30 to 21:00.
- Line 3 runs to the west bus station, 09:00 until the last flight, every 30 minutes, 15 yuan.
- Coaches into the airport run 06:00 to 21:00 from their city ends, which is what covers an early flight.
- Taxis run from about 78 to 113 yuan depending on where you are going and whether the night rate applies.
The metro, which is new
- Line 1's north extension opened on 28 June 2025 and put a metro station at Changbei Airport.
- The extension runs 16.62 km from Shuanggang with eight new stations.
- Line 1 now runs airport to Maqiu, northwest to east, through the centre of Nanchang. One line covers most of what a visitor needs.
- Anything written before the summer of 2025 will tell you to take the coach. That advice is now a fallback rather than the answer.
The coaches
- All the airport coach lines cost 15 yuan.
- Line 1: airport to Nanchang railway station. From the airport 08:00 until the last flight, every 10 to 20 minutes, about 40 minutes. Into the airport, 06:00 to 21:00.
- Line 2: airport to the Jiangdian car park, same hours, every 30 minutes.
- Line 2 short: airport to the Trilec Hotel, 09:30 to 21:00 from the airport, hourly.
- Line 3: airport to the west bus station, 09:00 until the last flight, every 30 minutes; back 07:30 to 18:00.
- The 06:00 first coach into the airport is the useful number for a morning departure, because the coaches start earlier than they finish.
Taxis
- Reckon on 78 to 113 yuan into the city, depending on the district and whether the night surcharge applies.
- The airport is about 28 km northwest of Nanchang, which is why the fare is what it is.
- With the metro open there is much less reason to pay it.
