Louisville (SDF): the bus the airport recommends stopped serving it on 2 August 2026
TARC replaced its whole network on 2 August 2026 and the airport is not on any of the fifteen surviving routes. The airport's own ground transport page still says TARC provides service to and from the terminal. It does not.
- No TARC bus serves the terminal any more. The New TARC Network took effect on 2 August 2026 and none of its routes calls at the airport.
- The airport's own page still says TARC provides service to and from the airport and points you at the information booth for schedules. That advice is out of date.
- TARC's own published timetable data has no stop within 3 km of the terminal. The nearest are on Preston Highway, about 1.6 km away, on route 3.
- Route 3 now ends at UPS Worldport, along Fern Valley Road, and the passenger terminal is not on it. The cargo hub kept its service; the passengers lost theirs.
- Routes 93 and 99 are UPS shuttles with limited trips, not an airport service.
- Assume a car. Taxi, rideshare or hire car are the realistic options.
- Taxis wait at the commercial kerb outside baggage claim. zTrip is on 502-777-7777.
- Uber and Lyft pick up on the WEST side of baggage claim, out through the side doors.
- Accessible operators are published: Able Care 502-267-1911, Alpha Medical 502-936-9154, CareConextion 502-466-7000, and TARC3 paratransit on 502-213-3217.
- The Express Shuttle Lot gives a 2 hour grace period at no charge, which is the cheap way to wait for an arrival.
- The garage is 4 USD for the first hour and 2 USD for each additional hour if you want to come inside and meet someone.
- The terminal address is 600 Terminal Dr, Louisville, KY 40209, at the I-65 and I-264 interchange.
The bus is gone, and the airport has not caught up
- TARC launched the New TARC Network on Sunday 2 August 2026. It replaced almost every route number and schedule in the system, cut the network to fifteen routes, and moved the downtown interchange to a new Downtown Transfer Center.
- The airport did not survive the cut. TARC's current route list and its own route by route written descriptions do not place the passenger terminal on any route. TARC's own published timetable data contains no stop within 3 km of the terminal; the nearest are on Preston Highway, about 1.6 km away, served by route 3.
- Route 3's southern branch now runs along Fern Valley Road to UPS Worldport. The freight hub on the same airfield still has a bus. The passenger terminal does not.
- Routes 93 and 99 are UPS employee shuttles with limited trips and are not a way into town.
- The airport's own Getting To and From the Airport page still reads: service will be provided to and from the airport, with schedules available at the airport information booth. That sentence describes a service that ended. If a guide, a hotel or a booking confirmation tells you to take the bus, it is repeating the same stale line.
What actually works
- Taxis wait at the commercial kerb outside baggage claim. The airport lists zTrip on 502-777-7777.
- Uber and Lyft pick up on the west side of baggage claim, out through the side doors. Drop-offs can use either the upper or the lower level.
- Accessible transport is published separately: Able Care 502-267-1911, Alpha Medical 502-936-9154, CareConextion 502-466-7000, and TARC3 paratransit on 502-213-3217 for eligible riders.
- Turo operates at SDF, and limousines and hotel courtesy vans are listed by the airport.
Meeting someone
- The Express Shuttle Lot gives a 2 hour grace period at no charge, and doubles as a plane spotting position. It is the right place to wait rather than circling the kerb.
- If you want to come inside, the garage is 4 USD for the first hour and 2 USD for each additional hour.
- The terminal is at 600 Terminal Dr, Louisville, KY 40209, at the intersection of I-65 and I-264. Roadworks on the I-65 central corridor have repeatedly changed the approach, so check the airport's directions page before driving.
