Myrtle Beach (MYR): the bus route the airport names was moved away from the airport in June
Myrtle Beach International tells passengers to catch Coast RTA route 15S on Jetport Road. Coast RTA rewrote its network on 7 June 2026: route 15S now runs to South Strand Medical and Murrells Inlet. The airport is a timing point on route 7 and 7X to Conway, and the last bus into town leaves at 19:35.
- Do not look for route 15S at the airport. Since 7 June 2026 route 15S is Myrtle Beach to South Strand Medical and Murrells Inlet Tidelands, and it does not serve MYR.
- The airport bus is Coast RTA route 7 and 7X, Myrtle Beach to Conway. The airport is a named timing point on it, between IWTC and Coastal Carolina University.
- Departures from the airport towards Conway are hourly, 07:20 to 20:20.
- Departures towards Myrtle Beach are hourly, 07:35 to 19:35, reaching IWTC twenty minutes later. The last bus into town leaves the airport at 19:35, not at eight o'clock.
- Coast RTA's current guide is headed "TEMPORARY RIDER'S GUIDE", effective 7 June 2026 and issued on 12 May 2026, and warns that the routes "may be modified after the start date". Check before you rely on a time.
- Every Coast RTA fare is $1.00, and contactless tapping caps you at $3.50 a day.
- Transfers no longer exist. Coast RTA abolished them and no longer accepts magstripe passes.
- Drivers carry no money and cannot give change. Have the exact fare or tap a card or phone wallet.
- Cash is still accepted for now but does not count towards the $3.50 daily cap.
- Drivers will not stop where there is a signed bus stop unless you wait at it, and they cannot deviate from the route.
- Fixed routes run seven days a week, 362 days a year, closed on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- The airport's own stop is on Jetport Road, not at the terminal door.
- Taxis wait outside Door 6 at baggage claim, first come first served. Prearranged taxis and limousines are met in the short-term parking lot instead.
- Uber and Lyft drop off and pick up in the commercial lane across from Door 5, and rideshare drivers are not allowed to park and wait at the terminal.
- Turo is no longer available at MYR, withdrawn over contractual and parking capacity problems.
- The car rental facility is open until midnight every day with eight national brands.
The route number on the airport's page is wrong
- Myrtle Beach International's transportation page says: "Coast RTA's Route 15S picks up passengers at the bus stop on Jetport Road", and that a public bus runs daily from 07:00 until 20:00.
- Coast RTA redrew its network on 7 June 2026. In the current guide, route 15S is Myrtle Beach / South Strand Medical / Murrells Inlet Tidelands. It runs IWTC to the VA Medical centre, South Strand and Tidelands. It does not go near the airport.
- The airport is a timing point on route 7 and 7X, Myrtle Beach / Conway, between IWTC and Coastal Carolina University.
Route 7 at the airport
- Towards Conway: 07:20, 08:20, 09:20 and hourly through to 20:20.
- Towards Myrtle Beach and IWTC: 07:35, 08:35, 09:35 and hourly through to 19:35, arriving at IWTC twenty minutes later.
- So the airport's "until 8pm" is only half right: the last departure in the direction most arriving passengers want is 19:35.
- The guide you are reading these times from is itself provisional. It is headed "TEMPORARY RIDER'S GUIDE, effective June 7, 2026, issued 5/12/2026" and every page repeats that the routes "may be modified after the start date".
Paying
- All Coast RTA fares are $1.00.
- Tap a contactless card or a phone wallet and your daily total caps at $3.50. Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay and similar all work at the validator.
- Transfers were abolished when the tap-to-cap scheme came in, and old magstripe passes are no longer accepted.
- Cash is still taken for now, but cash fares do not count towards the cap.
- Drivers carry no money and cannot make change, and will not honour flag stops on routes that have signed stops, so wait at the stop and signal.
- Fixed routes run seven days a week, 362 days a year, closed only on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Everything else at the kerb
- Taxis: outside Door 6 at baggage claim, first come first served. A prearranged taxi or limousine meets you in the short-term parking lot instead.
- Uber and Lyft: the designated commercial lane across from Door 5, for both drop-off and pick-up. Rideshare drivers are not permitted to park and wait at the terminal building, so request the car when you have your bags, not before.
- Turo has been withdrawn from MYR, which the airport attributes to contractual and parking capacity problems. Contracted rental firms, rideshare and permitted taxis continue.
- The car rental facility closes at midnight each day and holds eight national brands.
