Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ): you cannot walk out and take a taxi, and there is no Sunday bus

The airport says taxis are allowed only if you call ahead and meet the car in the second lane of the ground transportation queue. The kerb itself belongs to one on-demand sedan operator who quotes a fixed rate. The county bus stops at the terminal but neither county runs it on Sunday.

  • There is no walk-up taxi rank. The airport's own answer is: yes, taxis are allowed, "but you must call ahead and arrange for pick-up in the second lane of the Ground Transportation queuing area".
  • The kerb outside baggage claim, west end, belongs to ALD Limo. A uniformed starter meets you, quotes a fixed rate based on your destination, loads the bags and sends you off. 855-799-LIMO.
  • Uber and Lyft do operate at SRQ. Pick-up is the designated zone at the far west end of the ticket wing, in the ground transportation area.
  • The bus stop is on the airport, called SRQ Bus Loop Bay B, in the ground transportation area at the west end of baggage claim.
  • Manatee County Area Transit route 99 is the service. It runs between downtown Bradenton and downtown Sarasota and calls here.
  • Route 99 runs Monday to Saturday and not on Sunday. MCAT says so, and its timetable data carries no Sunday trips for route 99 at all.
  • MCAT's only Sunday routes are 5 and 75, neither of which comes to the airport. Sarasota County's Breeze also runs route 99 Monday to Saturday only.
  • Towards downtown Sarasota the airport departures are 06:26 to 19:46, roughly every 40 to 60 minutes.
  • Towards Bradenton they are 06:33 to 20:20. A final 21:20 working terminates at the airport rather than leaving it.
  • The fare is $1.50 on either county's bus. MCAT gives a transfer valid 60 minutes.
  • Breeze went cashless-capable on 25 April 2026 with Token Transit mobile tickets, and still takes cash, paper tickets and its $4 reloadable Smart Card.
  • Route 99 does not run on public holidays, and MCAT ends it at 15:00 on Christmas Eve.
  • There is no free drop-off period in any car park. Every SRQ lot charges $2.00 for 0 to 20 minutes.
  • Daily maxima: short term $29, long term $16, shade lot $16, overflow A and D and the tower lot $14. Rates effective 1 October 2025.
  • Ten hotels ran compliant shuttles in 2026, and the airport tells you to confirm with your hotel before arrival rather than assume.

The taxi you are imagining is not there

  • Ask SRQ whether you can get a taxi and the answer is: "Yes, but you must call ahead and arrange for pick-up in the second lane of the Ground Transportation queuing area." There is no queue of cabs waiting for the flight.
  • The on-demand kerb belongs to one operator. Outside baggage claim at the west end, ALD Limo runs eco sedans, luxury sedans and SUVs. A uniformed starter connects you with a vehicle and gives you a fixed rate based on your destination before you get in. 855-799-LIMO.
  • Uber and Lyft do serve SRQ, from the designated zone at the far west end of the ticket wing in the ground transportation area.

The bus stops at the terminal, six days a week

  • The stop is on the airport: SRQ Bus Loop Bay B, reached from the ground transportation area at the west end of baggage claim. Both counties' buses use it.
  • Manatee County Area Transit route 99 runs from the MCAT Downtown Station in Bradenton to the Sarasota Downtown Station and calls here. Service runs Monday through Saturday except for holidays, and MCAT adds that it ends at 15:00 on Christmas Eve.
  • There is no Sunday service to this airport from either county. MCAT's own timetable data shows route 99 with no Sunday trips at all, and the only MCAT routes that run on Sunday are 5 and 75, neither of which comes here. Sarasota County's Breeze also publishes route 99 as Monday to Saturday.
  • Departures from the airport towards downtown Sarasota: 06:26, 07:08, 08:08, 08:48, 09:28, 10:28, 11:08, 11:48, 12:48, 13:28, 14:08, 15:08, 15:48, 16:28, 17:28, 18:08, 18:48 and 19:46.
  • Towards Bradenton: 06:33 through to 20:20. A last working reaches the airport at 21:20 and ends there, so do not read it as a departure.
  • $1.50 either way. MCAT's transfer lasts 60 minutes. Breeze added Token Transit mobile ticketing on 25 April 2026 and still takes cash, paper tickets and a $4 reloadable Smart Card; drivers give no change, and overpayments come back as a voucher.

Parking charges from the first minute

  • Every SRQ car park charges $2.00 for 0 to 20 minutes. There is no free grace period for a drop-off.
  • Daily maximum: short term $29, long term $16, the shade lot $16, and the overflow A and D lots and tower lot $14 when those are opened. Rates effective 1 October 2025.

Hotel shuttles

  • Ten hotels operated compliant shuttles in 2026, including DoubleTree by Hilton SRQ, Embassy Suites and Hyatt Place Sarasota. The airport's advice is blunt: contact your hotel or resort before arrival to verify transportation, because the list changes.
