DFW Airport to Dallas and Fort Worth
The Orange Line serves Terminal A, the Silver Line serves Terminal B and a shuttle bus links Terminal D to the Trinity Railway Express. A 3-hour pass is $3 and a day pass $6, but Terminal B station has no ticket machine.
- Three rail options, three different terminals. The Orange Line light rail calls at Terminal A, the Silver Line regional rail at Terminal B, and the TRE LINK shuttle bus connects Terminal D with CentrePort station on the Trinity Railway Express.
- A 3-hour pass is $3.00 and a local Day Pass is $6.00, half that for reduced-fare riders.
- Terminal B station has no ticket vending machine. It is the only DART or TRE rail station without one, so buy in the GoPass app or tap a contactless card instead.
- Contactless card, phone or GoPass Tap card all work by tapping a reader on the platform or bus before boarding, and each rider needs their own card.
- The Local Pass covers everything you need: DART rail, the Silver Line, buses, GoLink, the Dallas Streetcar and the TRE as far as CentrePort.
- Going to Fort Worth is a Regional trip. The Regional Day Pass fell to $9.00 on 1 March 2026 and covers DART, Trinity Metro and Denton County Transit on one fare.
- The light rail has no luggage racks. Board the centre section, which is level with the platform and has the floor space.
- Skylink and Terminal Link move you between terminals once you are airside or landside respectively.
Which station you want
- Terminal A: the Orange Line. DART's light rail runs from Terminal A through Irving and Las Colinas into downtown Dallas. This is the option most arrivals want.
- Terminal B: the Silver Line. DART's regional rail service, and the newer arrival. It runs east across the northern suburbs rather than into downtown Dallas, which makes it the right train for Addison, Richardson and Plano and the wrong one for the city centre.
- Terminal D: the TRE LINK shuttle bus, which connects the terminal with DFW Airport/CentrePort station on the Trinity Railway Express, the line between Dallas and Fort Worth.
- Everything else is a people mover. Skylink runs airside between terminals and Terminal Link runs landside, so getting to the right terminal for your train is straightforward once you know which one it is.
The ticket machine trap
- Every DART and TRE rail station has a ticket vending machine except one, and that one is DFW Airport Terminal B Station. DART publishes this plainly, and it is exactly the station a first-time visitor arriving on the Silver Line will be standing at.
- So buy before you reach the platform. The GoPass app sells passes on a phone, and a contactless credit card, a payment-enabled phone or a GoPass Tap card can simply be tapped at a reader.
- One card per person. Tapping the same card twice does not pay for two people.
- Machines take cash, cards and mobile wallets everywhere else, and sell both the 3-hour and the day pass.
What it costs
- 3-hour pass $3.00, reduced $1.50, including transfers and GoLink within the three hours.
- Local Day Pass $6.00, reduced $3.00. Two airport trips in a day pay for it exactly.
- Regional Day Pass $9.00 since 1 March 2026, down from $12.00. This is the one to buy if your trip crosses into Fort Worth on Trinity Metro or north to Denton, because a Local pass does not stretch that far.
- Local monthly pass $126.00, which is not an arrival question but is worth knowing if you are staying a while.
Luggage
- DART light rail has no luggage racks. Board through the centre section, which boards level with the platform and has the open floor area, and keep bags out of the aisle. Operators do not help with bags.
- The Silver Line is the comfortable one for suitcases: level boarding at every door, overhead racks, and one carriage with a dedicated space for luggage and strollers.
