The express bus
- SacRT route 142 runs an express service between Sacramento International Airport and downtown Sacramento.
- Every 20 to 30 minutes, seven days a week, in combination with Yolobus routes 42A and 42B.
- That combination is the point. The airport sits north-west of the city near the Yolo county line, and two agencies split the work.
Yolobus, and why it matters
- Yolobus runs daily routes across the region, from Sacramento to Davis and Woodland and beyond.
- If you are heading for UC Davis, that is the direct answer rather than going into Sacramento first.
- The 42A and 42B are a loop - one runs clockwise and one anticlockwise around the same circuit through the airport, Woodland, Davis and downtown Sacramento.
SacRT fares
- Single ride ticket 2.50 dollars. Transfer ticket 25 cents.
- Daily pass 7.00 dollars. Semi-monthly 50.00, monthly 100.00.
- Discount fares are half: 1.25 a single ride, 3.50 a day, for seniors 62 and over, riders with disabilities and students from TK to grade 12.
- A Super Senior monthly pass for over-75s is 40.00 dollars.
- Many school students ride free through RydeFreeRT - worth checking with the district if you are local.
Landing here
- The airport is about 16 km north-west of downtown Sacramento, on the flat delta land beside Interstate 5.
- This is the airport for the state capital and for Lake Tahoe, which is a two-hour drive east and not served by any bus from here.
- San Francisco is 145 km south-west. SMF sometimes prices well against the Bay Area airports, and the drive is real but manageable.
