Tampa (TPA) on HART: Routes 10 and 30, from the Rental Car Center
Two HART routes run between downtown Tampa and the airport, and both use the Rental Car Center stop. A ride is 2 dollars, capped at 4 a day.
- HART Route 10 Cypress St runs Downtown Tampa to Tampa Airport.
- HART Route 30 Kennedy Blvd / Town 'n Country runs Downtown Tampa to Tampa Airport and on to the Northwest Transfer Center.
- Both stop at "Tampa International Airport (Rental Car Center)" - not at the terminal kerb.
- A local one trip fare is 2.00 dollars. The daily cap is 4.00 and the monthly cap 65.00.
- A discount fare is 1.00 dollar, capped at 2.00 a day, for youth 6 to 18, seniors 65+, riders with disabilities, disabled veterans and Medicare holders.
- A 1 Day Family Pass is 12.50 dollars and covers up to five people on one tap.
- The Month Passport is 85.00 dollars and covers HART plus PSTA buses and trolleys across the bay in Pinellas.
- Route 30 also runs to Westshore Plaza and the University of Tampa, which is useful if that is where you are staying.
The two routes
- Route 10 Cypress St runs between Downtown Tampa and Tampa Airport, calling at the Marion Transit Center at the downtown end.
- Route 30 Kennedy Blvd / Town 'n Country is the longer one: Downtown Tampa, the University of Tampa, Westshore Plaza, Cypress Point Park, Tampa International Airport, and on to the Town 'n Country Regional Library and the Northwest Transfer Center.
- Both call at the stop named "Tampa International Airport (Rental Car Center)". That is the address to look for, and it is not the same as the terminal kerb where the hotel shuttles wait.
What it costs
- 2.00 dollars for a single local trip. Pay with a Flamingo card or the Flamingo app.
- The daily cap is 4.00 dollars - after two trips the rest of the day is free.
- The monthly cap is 65.00.
- Discount fare is 1.00 dollar with a 2.00 daily cap, for youth aged 6 to 18, people 65 and over, riders with a disability, disabled veterans, the visually impaired and Medicare cardholders.
- A 1 Day Family Pass is 12.50 dollars on the app: tap once for up to five people, valid until 03:00 the next morning. Tell the driver.
- The Month Passport at 85.00 dollars is the one worth knowing about for a longer stay, because it also covers PSTA buses and trolleys in Pinellas County, which is how you reach St Petersburg and Clearwater.
Reaching the other side of the bay
- PSTA routes 100 and 300 connect at the Marion Transit Center downtown, and that is the public transport route towards St Petersburg.
- It is not fast. Tampa Bay is wide and the bus goes round it.
Landing here
- Tampa is about 10 km from downtown, close by American standards, and the roads are usually the quickest way in.
- This is the cruise airport for Tampa's port and the closest big airport to Clearwater and the Gulf beaches.
- St Petersburg-Clearwater (PIE) is the other airport, smaller, mostly low cost, and on the far side of the bay.
