Getting from Spokane International Airport to the city

Two buses at the same kerb, going opposite ways

• Spokane International is one of the better-served mid-size US airports: Spokane Transit stops right at Concourse A and Concourse C, seven days a week, on two routes. The catch is that the two routes go in opposite directions and only one of them is any use to a visitor.
• Route 7, Valley/Airport, is the one into the city. Its published stop sequence runs airport, Flint Road, Sunset Boulevard, 3rd Avenue, Plaza Bay 3 in the middle of downtown Spokane, then out through Mirabeau Transit Center and Spokane Valley to Liberty Lake Park & Ride. On the afternoon trip checked, airport to the Plaza took 19 minutes.
• Route 63, Geiger/Airport, has nine stops and none of them is in Spokane. It runs west from the airport along Flightline and Geiger Boulevard to the West Plains Transit Center. It is frequent, and it is the wrong bus.
• The airport's own ground transportation page says that STA "provides bus service from Spokane International to the transportation plaza located in downtown Spokane". That describes route 7 and not route 63, so read the headsign on the bus.

Times, from the 20 September 2026 timetable

• Route 7 from the airport: weekdays 06:06 to 22:25, Saturday 06:24 to 22:25, Sunday 06:24 to 20:25. A Sunday evening arrival after eight has no bus into town.
• Route 63 from the airport: weekdays 05:41 to 22:33, Saturday 06:32 to 22:33, Sunday 07:32 to 19:33.
• The fare is $2.00, and STA's own fare data sets a two hour transfer window, which covers a change downtown.

The parking rule that catches people out

• Spokane International does not accept advance reservations or prepayment for parking, and it explicitly tells customers not to attempt to reserve or pay for parking in advance through third parties. Anything sold to you online as a pre-booked GEG airport space is not a booking the airport recognises.
• You pull up, press the flashing white button, take a ticket, and pay on the way out or at a QuickPay station inside the terminal.
• Rates as of 1 April 2026, per additional 24 hour interval: $18.00 garage, $11.00 outside lot and C Concourse, $8.00 economy. All prices include Washington state sales tax.
• The exit machines take cards, not cash. VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Android Pay all work. If you must pay cash, phone the parking department on 509-455-6457 before you get to the barrier.
• Vehicles left over 60 days without prior arrangement may be treated as abandoned and moved at the owner's expense.

The Economy Lot, and how to get back to it

• The free Economy Lot shuttle runs from 03:30 until the last flight arrival, on a continuous loop about every 15 minutes, with no need to call. It drops at the terminal and picks up at two points: the Economy Lot shelter near C Concourse baggage claim, and the terminal kerb by the rental car counters.
• Walking takes 10 to 15 minutes and there are free baggage trolleys stationed around the lot.
• Live shuttle wait times are on the NextBus app and on monitors at both baggage claims.
• Free Level 2 ChargePoint charging is on garage levels 1 and 2 and in the Outside, Economy and Cell Phone lots. Skybridge access to all concourses is on floor 2 of the garage.

Cabs and apps

• Taxis are curbside, centrally located in the terminal, on 509-455-6490 for queries.
• Uber and Lyft are available at designated areas of the terminal.
• Worth knowing: the airport's approved taxi company list is a PDF dated 8 September 2020, and its approved regional shuttle and bus operator list is dated 3 August 2020. Some of those firms will have changed. Treat the lists as a starting point rather than a current roster.
