St. Louis (STL) on MetroLink: one station per terminal
Terminal 1 has its own MetroLink station through Door 1, Terminal 2 through Door 12. Rail fare is 2.50 dollars and must be bought before boarding.
- Each terminal has its own MetroLink light rail station.
- Terminal 1: exit Door 1 on the Ticketing Level, east of all the ticket counters.
- Terminal 2: exit Door 12, through the parking garage.
- Buy before you board. Advance fare is required, from the ticket machines at both stations or through the Transit app.
- Rail cash fare is 2.50 dollars. Bus is 1.00.
- A one-day pass is 5.00 dollars, a 7-day pass 27.00, a 30-day pass 78.00.
- Reduced fare is half: 1.25 rail, 0.50 bus, with a Metro Reduced Fare Permit.
- MetroLink has 38 stations over 46 miles, serving St. Louis County, the City of St. Louis and St. Clair County in Illinois.
- The Bus Port for Greyhound is south of Terminal 1 on Lambert International Boulevard, reached by the terminal shuttle from T1 Door 12 or T2 Door 10.
Two terminals, two stations
- STL is unusual in having a light rail station for each terminal, which removes the usual American airport problem of the train serving one building and a shuttle serving the other.
- Terminal 1: leave through Door 1 on the Ticketing Level, east of all the ticket counters.
- Terminal 2: leave through Door 12 and go through the parking garage.
- MetroLink is operated by Metro Transit and runs 38 stations over 46 miles, across St. Louis County, the City of St. Louis, and St. Clair County on the Illinois side of the river.
Paying
- Advance fare is required - you cannot pay on the train. Buy at the ticket vending machines at either airport station, or in the Transit app.
- Rail cash fare: 2.50 dollars. Bus cash fare: 1.00.
- One-day pass 5.00, 7-day 27.00, 30-day 78.00.
- Reduced fare is half price (1.25 rail, 0.50 bus, 39.00 for a 30-day) with a Metro Reduced Fare Permit.
- Metro is rolling out a new tap-and-ride system with a reloadable Ride On card and fare capping, alongside the Transit app.
The Bus Port
- Long distance coaches use the Bus Port, just south of Terminal 1 on Lambert International Boulevard. It is the Greyhound pickup point.
- Get there on the terminal shuttle: Terminal 1 Door 12, or Terminal 2 Door 10.
- Or walk the tunnel on the yellow level of the Terminal 1 Garage, outside exit 16.
Practical
- The airport is about 24 km north-west of downtown, and MetroLink takes around 35 minutes into the city.
- Two terminals here means two separate buildings, not two concourses. Check which one your airline uses before you leave for the airport.
- The taxi fare varies with destination and carries a 4 dollar Airport Use Fee per pickup, set by the Metropolitan Taxicab Commission.
