Getting from Southwest Florida International Airport to the city

One route

• LeeTran route 50 is the bus at Southwest Florida International, and it runs seven days a week.
• The line is RSW Airport - South Fort Myers Transfer Station and Park & Ride - Beach Park & Ride.
• On the way it serves HealthPark, the Bell Tower vicinity and Grande Calusa, the old outlet centre.
• The South Fort Myers transfer station is the interchange for the rest of the Lee County network, including the routes towards downtown Fort Myers and Cape Coral.

Fares

• 1.50 dollars adult, 0.75 discount, free for children 6 and under.
• The beach trolley on routes 410 and 490 is 0.75.
• Exact change on board. The fare box does not give change and the driver cannot.
• The LeeFare app works as a standalone payment option on a phone.
• Multi-day passes - 3-day, 7-day, 31-day - load onto a reusable TropiCard or come as a Limited Use Pass. They run for consecutive days from the first tap: a day you do not travel still counts.
• Discounted passes need a photo ID TropiCard, made at the Rosa Parks Transportation Center, 2250 Widman Way, Fort Myers, for people 65 and over, riders with disabilities and full-time students.

Being realistic about it

• This is a beach-holiday airport and the bus network is built for residents, not for arriving visitors with suitcases.
• Service hours are limited and change seasonally - the evening service finishes far earlier than a late flight.
• Most people hire a car here. Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, Naples and Cape Coral are spread out and the road network assumes you are driving.

Where you are

• RSW is about 20 km south-east of Fort Myers, in Lee County, on the Gulf coast.
• It is one of the most seasonal airports in the United States - the winter and spring peak is enormous and the summer is quiet.
• Punta Gorda (PGD) is the small low-cost airport 50 km north, and it is not the same place.
