Tucson (TUS): the bus stops inside the airport and is free, but the last one on Sunday is 20:18

Every Tucson transit service is fare free by order of the Mayor and Council, and the Sun Tran stop is inside the airport rather than on a road outside. The catch is the evening: on a Sunday the last bus off the airport leaves at 20:18, hours before the last arrivals.

  • All Tucson transit is free. Sun Tran, Sun Link, Sun Van, Sun On Demand, Sun Express and Sun Shuttle all remain fare free at the direction of the Mayor and Council.
  • The stop is inside the airport, named Tucson Intl Airport (Inside), about 120 metres from the terminal building. You do not walk out to a highway.
  • Two routes serve it: Route 25 S Park Ave and Route 11 Alvernon / Ajo.
  • Route 25 towards Downtown runs from 04:18 on weekdays, the earliest bus of the day.
  • The last Route 25 towards Downtown is 22:18 on weekdays, 21:03 on Saturday and 20:18 on Sunday.
  • The last Route 11 towards Dodge / River is 23:29 on weekdays but only 19:24 at weekends.
  • So on a Sunday evening the airport loses its bus at 20:18. Arrivals after that need a taxi or an app.
  • Sun Tran's published schedule data declares itself valid 17 May to 15 August 2026, a window that has passed, so confirm the times before you rely on them.
  • Uber operates at TUS and publishes its own pickup and dropoff page for the airport.
  • The Phoenix shuttle does not call at this airport. Groome Transportation's Tucson to Sky Harbor service uses three city stops, not the terminal.
  • Groome's Tucson stops are 5350 E Speedway Blvd, the University of Arizona at 501 N Park Ave, and 9633 N Tiffany Loop at Twin Peaks.
  • Groome charges 45 dollars online, 50 dollars for a walk-up adult and 29 dollars for a child 12 and under, all fees included, with check-in 15 minutes before departure and 24 hours' notice recommended.
  • The airport address is 7250 S Tucson Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85756.

Free, and it comes to you

  • Tucson has not charged a transit fare for years and still does not. Sun Tran, the Sun Link streetcar, Sun Van, Sun On Demand, Sun Express and Sun Shuttle all remain fare free at the direction of the Mayor and Council. There is nothing to buy.
  • The bus stop is inside the airport, listed by Sun Tran as Tucson Intl Airport (Inside) and sitting about 120 metres from the terminal building. Unlike El Paso or Palm Springs, you are not walking out to a road.
  • Route 25, S Park Ave runs to Downtown. Route 11, Alvernon / Ajo runs north towards Dodge and River.

The evening is the problem

  • Route 25 towards Downtown: first 04:18 on weekdays; last 22:18 weekdays, 21:03 Saturday, 20:18 Sunday.
  • Route 11 towards Dodge / River: last 23:29 weekdays, 19:24 Saturday and Sunday.
  • That leaves a hard edge. On a Sunday the last bus of any kind off this airport is 20:18. Tucson's late arrivals bank is well after that, so a Sunday night landing means a taxi or an app.
  • One caveat worth carrying: the schedule data Sun Tran publishes describes itself as valid from 17 May to 15 August 2026. That window has closed and no replacement has been posted. The route structure is right; check the minutes.

Getting to Phoenix, and where the shuttle really stops

  • Many itineraries pair Tucson with Phoenix Sky Harbor. Groome Transportation runs the Tucson to PHX shuttle, and it does not call at Tucson International.
  • Its three Tucson stops are 5350 E Speedway Blvd, the University of Arizona at 501 N Park Ave, and 9633 N Tiffany Loop at Twin Peaks, where parking is free and the office is staffed 10:00 to 18:00.
  • 45 dollars booked online, 50 dollars for a walk-up adult, 29 dollars for a child of 12 or under, with all fees included. Check in 15 minutes before departure, and the operator asks for 24 hours' notice to guarantee a seat. Home pickup adds 10 to 37 dollars depending on distance.

Apps

  • Uber operates at TUS and publishes its own airport pickup and dropoff pages for the field. The airport address for a pin is 7250 S Tucson Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85756.
