Boise (BOI): route 3 Vista is the airport bus

Valley Regional Transit route 3 runs 05:41 to 21:30 with a Toward Boise Airport headsign. Routes 2 and 20 also reach the terminal.

  • The stop is simply called Boise Airport, in Valley Regional Transit's published data.
  • Route 3, Vista, is the main service: about 1640 scheduled calls, 05:41 to 21:30, headsigned Toward Boise Airport.
  • Vista Avenue is the corridor between the airport and downtown Boise, and route 3 follows it the whole way.
  • Route 2, Broadway, also runs to the airport, 05:30 to 21:43, signed Toward Boise Airport and Towards Main Street Station.
  • Route 20, Orchard, reaches the terminal too, 06:02 to 21:32.
  • Main Street Station is the downtown hub, and it is where the network converges.
  • Nothing runs after about half past nine in the evening, so late arrivals need a taxi.
  • The airport is about 5 km from downtown, which keeps the alternatives affordable.

The routes

  • Route 3, Vista, is the one to remember. Around 1640 scheduled calls in the published timetable, running 05:41 to 21:30, with an explicit Toward Boise Airport headsign.
  • Route 2, Broadway, runs 05:30 to 21:43, about 1030 calls, signed for the airport and for Main Street Station.
  • Route 20, Orchard, runs 06:02 to 21:32, about 450 calls.
  • Three routes at a mid-sized American airport is more than most manage.

Where the stops are

  • Boise Airport is the terminal stop.
  • West Airport Way carries several more within a kilometre: at Wright Street, at Ryan Street, at Vista Avenue.
  • South Vista Avenue has stops at Sunrise Rim Road and at Elder Street, on the corridor into town.

The limits

  • The last departures are around 21:30. Boise has flights arriving later than that, particularly connections from the west coast hubs.
  • There is no Sunday-to-Saturday parity to assume either; check the day of the week before relying on the bus.

Getting oriented

  • Downtown Boise is about 5 km north along Vista Avenue.
  • Main Street Station downtown is the interchange for the rest of the Treasure Valley network, including services out to Meridian and Nampa.
  • Boise State University sits between the airport and downtown, which is why the corridor is well served.
