Palm Beach (PBI): Palm Tran routes 44 and 2

Route 44 Belvedere Rd and route 2 Congress Ave call at the airport. Route 2 runs 05:28 to 22:20 and some trips connect to Tri-Rail at Delray.

  • Two Palm Tran routes call at the Palm Beach International Airport stop.
  • Route 44, Belvedere Road, runs east to west past the airport, 05:55 to 19:58.
  • Route 2, Congress Avenue, runs north to south, 05:28 to 22:20, and is the later of the two.
  • Some route 2 southbound trips are signed to Delray Tri-Rail, which is the commuter railway running the length of the coast to Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
  • That Tri-Rail connection is the useful one if you are heading south rather than into West Palm Beach.
  • Route 2 is the one to use in the evening; route 44 finishes before eight.
  • The airport authority has renamed the airport. It now presents itself as President Donald J. Trump International Airport, with the code DJT, and publishes a name-change FAQ.
  • Signs, tickets and booking systems may use either name, so search both if something does not come up.

The two routes

  • Palm Tran route 44, Belvedere Road, is the airport's east-west route. Departures from the airport stop run 05:55 to 19:58.
  • Palm Tran route 2, Congress Avenue, is the north-south route, 05:28 to 22:20. It has both more departures and a later last bus.
  • Both call at a stop named simply Palm Beach International Airport, on the terminal side.

The Tri-Rail connection

  • Some route 2 southbound trips are signed "to Delray Tri-Rail". Tri-Rail is the commuter railway that runs down the Atlantic coast through Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and on to Miami Airport.
  • If you are going south, that combination is far cheaper than a car and avoids the I-95.
  • If you are going into West Palm Beach itself, either route works and the trip is short: the airport is about 5 km from downtown.

About the name

  • The Palm Beach County Department of Airports now presents the airport as President Donald J. Trump International Airport, with the code DJT, and has published a name-change FAQ on its own site.
  • The older name, Palm Beach International, and the code PBI are still in wide use in schedules, maps and booking systems.
  • If a search does not find what you expect, try the other name.

The airport

  • The airport is in West Palm Beach, about 5 km from downtown and roughly 110 km north of Miami.
  • It is small and easy, which is much of its appeal against Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
  • Concourse B and a terminal connector are being rebuilt, so the layout inside may not match older maps.
