Buffalo (BUF): route 24 Genesee, with a limited-stop variant

NFTA route 24 stops at BNIA Driveway and BNIA Terminal, running 04:40 to 00:46, with an Airport - Limited Stops version for a faster run downtown.

  • The airport stop is BNIA Driveway & BNIA Terminal, on NFTA Metro's network.
  • Route 24, Genesee, is the service: about 790 scheduled calls, running 04:40 to 00:46.
  • There are three headsigns: Airport, Airport - Limited Stops, and Downtown.
  • The limited-stop variant is the one you want if you are heading straight into the city.
  • Genesee Street is the corridor, and the route calls at a dense run of stops along it.
  • Route 47, Wehrle, passes about 1.2 km away, 06:29 to 22:47, towards Eastern Hills Mall.
  • Route 78, Cheektowaga Express, also runs nearby, 07:07 to 17:54, a peak service.
  • Downtown Buffalo is about 16 km west, where the Metro Rail line runs along Main Street.

Route 24

  • The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority runs route 24, Genesee, to the airport. Its stop is BNIA Driveway & BNIA Terminal.
  • First departure 04:40, last 00:46, roughly 790 scheduled calls. That is a wide window and it covers both the earliest flights and the late arrivals.
  • Three headsigns appear: Airport, Airport - Limited Stops, and Downtown.
  • Take the limited-stop version if you see it. The ordinary route 24 calls at more than a dozen stops along Genesee Street within a kilometre and a half of the airport alone.

The other routes nearby

  • Route 47, Wehrle, 06:29 to 22:47, uses stops on Wehrle Drive about 1.2 km from the terminal, running out to Eastern Hills Mall.
  • Route 78, Cheektowaga Express, 07:07 to 17:54, is a commuter service between Cheektowaga and downtown Buffalo.

The city end

  • Downtown Buffalo is about 16 km west of the airport.
  • Metro Rail runs along Main Street downtown, and route 24 connects into it. The rail line does not come near the airport.
  • Cheektowaga is the town the airport actually sits in, which is worth knowing when reading addresses and timetables.

Onward

  • Niagara Falls is about 40 km north-west. NFTA runs services in that direction, but not from the airport, so you change in Buffalo.
  • The Canadian border is close, and Buffalo is a common cheap-flight alternative for people heading to Toronto.
