Getting from Orlando Sanford International Airport to the city

First, the thing people book by mistake

SFB is Orlando Sanford International. It is not MCO, Orlando International. The cheap transatlantic and Allegiant fares often land here, and the two airports are in different counties with no direct link between them. Everything below follows from that.

There is no longer a bus

• On 11 January 2026 LYNX discontinued Links 34, 45, 46E, 46W, 103 and 434, and NeighborLinks 822 and 851. Every one of the eight is listed by LYNX as a Seminole County route: Link 34 was N. US 17-92/Sanford, Link 46E was East First Street/Downtown Sanford, Link 46W was West SR 46/Seminole Towne Center, NeighborLink 851 was Sanford.
• LYNX's current published route list has no Sanford route on it. Whatever a guidebook or a search result tells you about catching a LYNX bus at Sanford, that bus has been gone since January.

What is there instead: Scout, and a weekday train

• Scout is Seminole County's on-demand microtransit, a minibus you summon rather than a route you catch. Book in the Ride Freebee app, or ring 407-665-RIDE (7433) if you have no smartphone. Booking in the app takes 50 cents off, and you can request a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
• Publishers disagree about what it costs. SunRail's own page says $1 for a trip that starts or ends at the nearest SunRail station, with half price for seniors over 65, students, riders with disabilities and income-eligible residents. Reporting at the service's launch put the general fare at $4 within one zone, up to $14 across three zones, and $2 concessionary. Assume somewhere in that range and check in the app before you commit.
• They disagree about the hours as well. SunRail publishes the SunRail-connection window as Monday to Friday, 05:00 to 21:00. The launch reporting gives Monday to Friday 05:00 to 21:00, Saturday 06:00 to 22:00 and Sunday 06:00 to 20:00, with every request needing at least 30 minutes' notice before closing.

The train, and its very large catch

• SunRail's Sanford station is at 2720 West SR 46, near SR 46 and Airport Boulevard. That is a separate journey from the terminal, which is what Scout, Uber, Lyft or Mears are for.
• SunRail runs Monday to Friday only. There is no weekend service. The operator states it in as many words, and it also closes on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
• Southbound departures from Sanford: 05:06, 05:36, 06:06, 06:36, 07:06, 07:36, 08:06, 09:06, 10:06, 11:36, 12:36, 13:36, 15:06, 15:36, 16:06, 16:36, 17:06, 17:36, 18:56, 20:16 and 22:16. Note the hole in the middle of the day: this is a commuter railway, not an airport line.
• Sanford to LYNX Central Station in downtown Orlando is 42 minutes on the first train, 05:06 to 05:48.
• The fare is $3.00 one way and $5.50 return. SunRail charges $2.00 for the first county and $1.00 for each further one, and Sanford to Orlando crosses from Seminole into Orange.
• If you are connecting to MCO, ride to Sand Lake Road and change to LYNX 311 (12 minutes), 11 (16 minutes) or 42 (17 minutes), which are free on a valid SunRail ticket, paper or mobile, and run about every 15 minutes. Again: weekdays only.
• The City of Sanford runs a free trolley from the SunRail station to Historic Downtown Sanford, 2.7 miles, about seven minutes, Monday to Friday from noon. It is a local service, not an airport one.

What nobody publishes

• Neither the airport authority nor any transport agency publishes a taxi tariff or a shuttle fare from SFB to Orlando. There is no official flat rate to quote. Book a shuttle or a car in advance and take the price from the operator, and treat a figure you saw on a booking aggregator as that aggregator's price, not the airport's.
